While the current grain harvest in this south east corner of the country is delivering mixed results due to a dry spring, in Western Australia farmers are harvesting a bumper crop.

Global wheat supply is on the rise, which doesn’t auger well for wheat prices this harvest. 

The almond plantation industry has seen massive growth in the past three decades to now put Australia as one of the largest producers in the world. The industry, much of which is based along the Murray river, is now going through large-scale orchard replanting phase.

The weekly wool report and the EMI rose again this week to close at 1542 cents a kg with the average price now up at 35 per cent on the same time last year.

It's been a difficult hay making season with unpredictable rain lowering yields. Jade Egan spoke to  Kayne Gardner who manages a sheep enterprise near Euroa in North East Victoria.
