Lorraine reflects on the uncertainty of those first days, the emotional reactions from health care professionals who saw Lincoln walking and talking again, and the coordinated care he received across Corewell Health in Southwest and West Michigan. Lincoln's recovery continued through rehabilitation and weeks of speech, memory and neurotherapy.

They also share the important roles two Good Samaritans, a 911 dispatcher, first responders and health care teams played in Lincoln's survival and recovery.

Just six weeks after the accident, Lincoln was able to leave for his study-abroad experience, an outcome that once seemed far from certain.
