Tenzin Choegyal is a Tibetan artist, composer, activist, musical director, and cultural ambassador who lives in Brisbane.  Through his music in the Tibetan tradition he channels the wisdom and traditions of his ancestors.

We'll also compare recordings by two Pakistani Sufi devotional singers; the new 'lost' album recorded by the great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in 1990, and the now unique vocal technique of Ustad Saami.

Later, the astonishing fusion band Shakti led by John McLaughlin.

There's an annual festival in the Czech Republic called Folk Holidays where folk and strings have always belonged together. One of their best CD releases of live recordings has Seckou Keita singing with his African kora, Antonio Toleda & Antonio Forcione playing acoustic guitar, Germán López on the timple, Martin Krajíček mandolin, Juraj Valenčík on double-bass, and on violins, Juraj Stieranka and the late Jitka Šuranská (who was integral part of putting this great lineup together).  You'll hear 14 mins of musical brilliance as part of our feast on music featuring variations on the guitar.
