A campaign to restore Suffolk Park's Bird Lake is gaining momentum after community leaders, environmental advocates and councillors met to discuss the future of one of the region's most significant waterways.
Supporters say years of scientific research have already identified practical solutions to improve water quality, tackle invasive carp and restore habitat, with the goal of transforming the degraded lake into a healthier ecosystem that benefits the entire Tallow Creek catchment.
The project has drawn strong community support and is being promoted as a potential flagship environmental restoration project for Byron Shire.
We hear from Suffolk Park Progress Association President Kelly Minahan and Greens councillor Mandy Nolan about the vision for Bird Lake and what they believe needs to happen next.
