Petrol prices are rising across Australia as temporary fuel excise relief comes to an end, putting renewed pressure on motorists and businesses. At the same time, the Federal and Western Australian governments are exploring plans for a new oil refinery as Australia looks to strengthen its fuel security and reduce its vulnerability to global supply disruptions.
Roderick Chambers spoke with Dr Dominic Marr from the Australian National University about what a new refinery could mean for Australia and its reliance on imported fuel.
