The ASX 200 fell sharply on Monday, hitting a seven-week low as weak economic data from China and rising US bond yields weighed on investor sentiment. Almost all sectors declined, with industrials and materials hardest hit, though energy stocks found support from higher oil prices. Key upcoming events include Nvidia earnings and Australian jobs data later in the week.

Steve Daghlian and Laura Besarati are Market Analysts at CommSec. Each episode, they break down the day's market movements and explain what the numbers really mean.
