The Australian share market finished almost unchanged on Tuesday as investors rotated defensively away from technology into financials and utilities. A sharp selloff in Asian chipmakers weighed on local tech stocks, while materials weakened despite recent gains. The RBA's board minutes reiterated an inflation focus ahead of Thursday's crucial jobs data, with rate hike expectations still priced in for the year. US earnings season kicks off tonight with major bank results.

Steve Daghlian and Laura Besarati are Market Analysts at CommSec. Each episode, they break down the day's market movements and explain what the numbers really mean.
