The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center East Hospital opened a new outpatient surgery and imaging unit Tuesday, expanding services to the Near East Side, which community leaders call an under-served area. The $26 million, 40,300-square-foot unit adds four new operating rooms to the hospital’s west wing, bringing the total at East to 14. Because of the project, Near East Side residents won’t have to travel far to receive the care they need, leaders say.
