The state has started distributing extra $300-a-week unemployment payments to laid-off Ohioans, two months after workers became eligible. Ohioans started receiving the $300 bump for each week they were laid off for the weeks ending Aug. 1 through Sept. 5. The money, called Lost Wages Supplemental Payment Assistance, was approved by the state in August but payment was delayed while the state worked out the mechanics of the process. The $300 replaced the original $600-a-week bonus approved as part of the federal CARES Act.
