Media & Fame: Is any of it real and how can we use it for good? With Maz Compton

View descriptionShare

From The Kardashians to A Current Affair, the internet, Murdoch newspapers to Radio drive shows. The media bombards us everywhere we go but what kind of impact is it having on us? How does celebrity and fame impact how we behave? Why do so many of us want to be famous?

We are living in an information revolution and have access to the media anytime and anywhere. But is this a good thing? We have the power to connect to inspirational ideas and people we admire on one hand, but can just as easily get lost in the sea of cat memes, celebrity worship and gossip on the other.

In this podcast we talk to the impressive and passionate Maz Compton about her successful career working in mainstream media and the impact 'being' the media has had on her personally.

Taking a peek behind the curtain, Maz gets frank about what it's like to follow her dreams, host MTV and climb the commercial ladder to land 'THE gig' on primetime breakfast radio - only to end up unhappy and conflicted.

We chat about the power the media it has to shift people, for good or bad, and the new media that is being made, like her show 'Chatterbox', which aims to have real conversations with celebrities.
