Jessica Watson (OAM) navigated some of the world’s most remote oceans and survived seven knockdowns and 210 days alone at sea to become the youngest person to sail solo, nonstop around the world, aged 16. An extraordinary feat that saw Jess be described as a ‘hero’ by the Prime Minister of the day, made a Member of the Order of Australia and be named the 2011 Young Australian of the Year. Since then Jess, who battled severe dyslexia as a kid, has become a two-time best selling author, completed two university degrees and worked across a variety of commercial and charitable projects. In this conversation we delve into having the audacity to set big goals, managing risk and building courage, overcoming doubters and the lessons she learnt from 210 days at sea.
