Umatilla County Emergency Manager Sage DeLong talks about what happen when there is an emergency and how it's decided to be an emergency. He shares how information is gathered and shared with the public. DeLong also talk about how and when the county involves the state in emergencies. He reflects on what the most demanding emergency has been so far in his career. Next, he talks about his involvement in flood control to prevent future emergencies, his office's budget and the Stronger Together initiative being worked on by fire districts within the county. He also talks about the communication that goes on between first responders when the emergency operations center is activated and if there's any legislation that needs to be passed that would make emergency management run smoother in the state.
