Blue Mountain Community College President Mark Browning shares what's on the horizon at BMCC campuses for 2026. Next, he shares what bills he's watching in Salem this legislative session. Oregon's community colleges continue to see growth and while that's usually a sign that the economy is not what it should be, he shares whether that's the case this time around. Browning then talks about the Blue Mountain Equine Center, now that he's had some time to get accustomed to it. He makes a quick mention about spring sports at BMCC and previews some of the extra curricular activities happening on the Pendleton campus. Umatilla County Commissioner John Shafer discusses changes at the Columbia Development Authority. He then talks about the Umatilla County Board of Commissioners voting yesterday on the settlement of the CDA lawsuit, why the suit was filed and what the result of the settlement is. Next, Shafer shares what's next with economic development on the former Umatilla Chemical Weapons Depot. Shafer then talks about Umatilla County Emergency Dispatch letting its subscribers know of a pending rate hike well before their governments had to come up with a budget for the coming fiscal year. He explains how that happened. Shafer then talks about how the county's budget is coming and the concerns of the commissioners in Salem this session. Wrapping up the conversation, Shafer talks about county counsel Doug Olsen's retirement and what the plans are when that happens. He then talks about other changes coming for the county government.
