Umatilla County Commissioner John Shafer talks about the Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council's upcoming meeting Fri., Dec. 13 in Salem. This is the group that ignored the county's setback for solar and Shafer explains how that could impact the county. Shafer then gives an update on Umatilla County's position of the Columbia Development Authority vote that cuts the county out of depot land for economic development. Next, Shafer, show is also the Association of Oregon Counties President, explains why it's important to be involved at the state and national levels of such organizations. He then explains the issues AOC will focus on with the upcoming session of the Oregon Legislature. He then talks about next week's meeting focusing on the Oregon Leadership Plan and what that is and what it hopes to accomplish. Shafer ends the conversation talking about the budget process and what he fet was the board of commissioner's biggest accomplishment in 2024.
