It warmer Forbo welcome above the Las Vegas because he's with myself. Craig gives Peterson Now part of the Euston Family podcast. We shall see if that's going to be the case this heres. We've got some realignment, we've got some fun in for Valdi, and we've got a great guest to join me to talk about it in segment number two. As we're gonna be welcoming by We're gonna be welcoming on Sean Paul. It does great workover at the Field of sixty eight. Couple that he does nice workover at Action Network. We're gonna be taking a look at all the nooks and cranies of all these teams, that coaching changes, the roster movement, the transfers that are going to be coming in along with now Steven A. Fauston and U Trio Grand Valley being in the conference. This happened about a month ago and from all indications it looks like it will be in effect for this season. If this is misinterpreted by myself and Sean, well just slash those teams off of my projector or finish in the final segment and you'll get my reordered projector or finished if you don't have ut or grand value along Stevna Fawston and the conference as they're coming in from the WHAC. But in the final segment, I will be giving you guys my projector or finished for all twelve teams in the South London. If you do have a question comment segment idea what I be for this podcast, you have one of two ways weel for those in first one is my Twitter slash x timeline I chet an underd and forty one. Because I am doing a conference preview today, that means that all of the news sentos we saw from college basketball on Sunday, those will be polished up on the podcast tomorrow Again, I said, if Stevna Fauston and you t Rear Grand Valley aren't in the conference this season, just take those teams off and you will get my reordered projector or finished if they are not in there. And along with those lines as well, we're going to be taking a look at the betting trends and the style of play in the conference here to start out. So how about if we start on and let's get down to business and take a look at this selfland that has been very much shaped by Steven Folson, even though they haven't been in this conference over the last few years. The fact that they had their distinct style in which they were able to generate so many turnovers for such a long time and continue to do so, that has really made what we've seen on the celfland over the last few years. As you saw McNeice really played that Steven Fosston style in terms of generating turnovers. Say, we're sixth in the country terms of turnovers forts on a per possession basis now seven f fallis and back they were number seven in all of college basketball this past season. But you're seeing a lot of clones with this, You're not seeing it from some of the bottom teams. Houston Christian three and forty third in the country in terms of turnover sports on a purpossession basis. Incardinate words first, but other of the top contenders like Texas A and m Core Chrissy was the biggest roadbump that you saw McNeice go through last season. They were number forty in all of college basketball terms of turnovers force on a purposession basis. Nicols yearning Europe has been towards the top, though we did see a bit of a coaching regime change to mister Tevin Sadler, and that caused them to be two our and twenty eighth in the country terms of turnovers force on a purposession basis. A season going, you've got a lot of teams that are to sort of find their identity a little bit, as you've got a lot of different styles in this conference. A team like a Southeast Louisiana very average in the national landscape in terms of turnovers force on a purposession basis and earned fifty fifth in Southeast Louisiana. While you've got a lot of teams that are looking to go fast in this conference, they decide that they were going to slow things down. Last year at two hundred eighty second in the country terms of total possessions, Brain evan Orleans team that had won the better scores in all of college basketball, and Jordan Johnson, they were very good at giving the ball away. One of the worst teams that being able to take care of the ball in all of college basketball. And that's a little bit of a homework of this common as well. But for the old Privateers of New Orleans, they were playing quite a bit up tempo this last season. I've been one of your best over teams in all of college bass the last few years, and they were thirty third in the country terms of total possessions per game. You got to see an a Foston team who they rejoined the fold after, they were playing quite a bit more up tempo as well, a thirty sixth in the country terms of total possessions per game. Ut Rio Grand Valley also one of the faster teams in the country last year, eighteenth in terms of total possessions per game. But that top team, they were really zagging while a lot of teams are sigging three hundred and first in the country terms of total possessions per game. Will Wade slowed them down, and yet they were able to be oh so efficient a top thirty five team in terms of both points scored and points allowed on a per possession basis. You've got quite a bit of the conference, and it's playing a bit more up tempo. Even in karnat Word last season they were able to crank up their temple a little bit. They were up to forty eighth in the country in terms of total possessions per game. And I was talking about it with that seven of Foston style of generating turnovers. Had some teams that did a good job, teams that did a bad job. But when you also see from a lot of these teams in the cel Plant, they just don't take care of the ball very well. I wish I could put it to any other way. But for Incarnate Word three and fifty fourth in the country in terms of just ball retention, they turned the ball around eighteen point nine percent of possessions. Now it's Steven and Fosten returning. They're actually now deadlast in terms of ball retention rate in this conference, run fifty fifth nationally. In terms of turnovers on a per possession basis. UTVW Grand Value was a team that was outside the top two to fifty with this regard as well. You've seen a lot of teams struggle with that. As for ut REAL Grand Value approximately three hundred and eighteenth in this category. You've had a lot of struggles with so many of these teams in terms of taking care of the ball. At Texas A and m Corpus Scrissy, one of the main competitors to make these last season, they struggled with this as well, one or and eighty second in the country. As McNee was really the best team in the conference. I'll be able to hold on to the ball. That's why they were able to have such an upper hand both in the country in terms of fewest turnovers committed on a purpossession basis had nickels to a relatively okay job in terms of just being able to get off shots, but still three horo tenth in the country for them in terms of turnovers on a purpossession basis. New Orleans has been a disaster the last few years in terms of taking care of the ball. They were one or an eighty seventh last year, so they were able to rectify that, but became one of the worst teams in all of college basketball terms of points a lot on a purposession basis, saying, this is not a conference that is going to be applauded for a lot of their defense, because in the case of a lot of these teams that they generate turnovers. If they don't generate a turnover, they just don't play a lot of defense. McNeese was alone exception. They were eighteenth in the country terms of points a lot on a pur possession basis, saying for seven Austin last season, they were out there in the whack. It was a little bit of an up and down defensive effort for them, but they were still thirty eighth in the country in terms of points a lot on a purposession basis. Well, Utbo Grand Valley enters after being two undred eighty ninth in the country with this regard, but you should take a look at some of these teams. New Orleans three horon and thirty second in the country terms of points allowed on a pur possession basis was a very rough year for incarnate word. Incarnate Word, with two hundred and ninety fifth terms of points a lot on a purposession basis. The other team that really played some tenacious defense in this conference Texas A and M Corpus Chrissy twenty first in the country terms points a lot on a purposession basis, while Texas A and M Commerce two hundred and sixty six, naturally with this regard, have a lot of teams will outside the top two twenty five in terms of points allowed on a purposession basis. And when it comes to the trends of this conference out in the Celtland, you had a lot of wide open shots that where it will be buried. And you saw one team in Texas A and M Corpus Scrissy become quite a nice under team in this conference. Well, they saw a lot of other teams not necessarily fall in line with that. As for Texas A and M Corpus Chrissy, sixty four point three percent of their games won under the total ten overs eighteen hundreds in a push south East Louisiana because they slowed down their tempo. They were also good under team twelve overs seventeen hundred cent Texas A and M Commerce simply because they shot about twenty five point nine percent for three point range on the road last season, thirteen overs is seventeen under. Every other team in the conference played at least fifty percent of their games to the over last year. McNeese and New Orleans both at fifty eight point six percent. New Orleans seventeen and twelve to the over. McNeese sifteen overs, twelve unders and a push nd easton Christian Go for fifteen overs, twelve unders and current words sixteen overs and thirteen unders, and then Lamar sifteen overs fourteen unders. If you take a look at the two teams that are entering from the whack in Stone Cold Steva Fallson along the ut Rio Grand Valley, Grand Valley fifteen overs, fourteen unders, Steva Fawson fifteen overs is sixteen unders, so relatively tame there. And if you look at cel phone play last season and what you got in terms of the totals in non conference play versus conference play. When you reach conference play, that's when you really reach a little bit more of a fifty to fifty approach with regards to totals. It was sort of based around the team itself, Like Northwestern State, they were eight overs to eleven under Southeast Wisian on nine overs to ten unders. Your top under team in conference play was actually Lamar after they were a good over team towards be part of the season eight overs to twelve unders. Meanwhile for New Orleans thirteen overs, seven unders, Mcneese's twelve overs, seven undreds and a push in cardif word Houston Christian both went eleven and seven through the over and when it came to non conference play, a lot of the teams that were able to hit the overs in conference play, in non conference play, they were under teams as Lamar. In Northwestern State where your loan two teams and non conference play that played more over than unders, and then they became your top two under teams in conference play. Lamar nine overs, the two unders, Northwestern State seven overs to four unders, and then he saw corpus Chrissy played eight undreds of two hundred overs in non conference play and non conference play Southeast Louisiana, Texas A and m Commerce seven unders, three overs, Apiece Nichols six hunderds four overs, and then four overs and five unders for Houston Christian along New Orleans as well. So it was very much an intriguing conference with that regard, and out there in the Southland. Most of your teams are out there in the great State of Texas. As a matter of fact, both of the teams entering in to the conference, soone called Steven F. Fawson along the ut Rear Grand Valley, those are two teams that are entering from the great State of Texas as well. So not a ton of travel out there, though we do know that Texas is a big, giant state. But you did see in terms of against the spread record some highly profitable teams that did a great job of fitting the road. Texas A and M Corpus Chrissy nineteen nine and one against the spread, Nichols twenty and eleven against the spread, Lamar nineteen eleven and one against the spread, Houston Christian far As bad As they were fourteen eleven and two against the spride. McNeese they went sixteen and fourteen against the spread. Had a few unprofitable teams that Karna where went ten to nineteen against the spread. New Orleans eleven and eighteen against the spread. And then for Texas A and M Commerce thirteen and seventeen, Southeast Louisiana thirteen and sixteen, and the team that overraned the conference McNeese. They were just sixteen and fourteen against the spreade. But when you got to conference play, that's when you really started to see these underdogs be able to yield a little bit of value. Corpus Chrissy thirteen five and one against the spread, Nichols fourteen and seven against the spread, Lamar thirteen and seven against the spread. These were more of your middle teams be in while McNeese was just signed on eleven against the spread in conference and current whord Big Giant Russy Anchor Form fourteen against the spread in conference play, New Orleans six and fourteen against the spread and conference play. Everyone else was sort of hovering in that nine to ten, nine to eleven range, with McNee who I mentioned before, Southeast, USNA, Texas A, and m Commerce all in that fold as well. And then in terms of the two teams are going to be entering from the whack in Stone Cold Steva Fawson along with ut Rio Grand Valley. Both of these teams, in terms of their over and under rates, they really didn't have a whole lot that stood out, But Steven f Awston against the spread last season. This was a bunch that they had a really rough time of it. Nine and twenty two against the spread, ball ut Rio Grand Valley ten eighteen and one against the spread. And if you're looking at least profitable teams in all of college basketball, stevn F. Houston should be feeling very fortunate that Pacific existed, because Pacific Old Dominion Michigan, Missouri, they were the old teams less profitable than Siva Faston and Utrio Grand Valley, another team that was in the bottom twenty five in all of college basketball in terms of money made. These were teams that they struggled at home, they struggled down the road, and for Seva A. Fawson, they just were unable to come through as a favorite last season as well as that was one of their big bugaboos as against the spread when they were any sort of a favorite. For Steven F. Fallson six and thirteen against the spread, which sadly as an underdog, they were even worse as as an underdog, so cold Steven F. Fallson a good hurdy three and nine against the spread, and ut Rear Grand Valley, well, they were an underdog in most of their games sent sixteen and one against the spread. With this regard, and have to figure that the overall travel of the whack really got to these two teams as Steven F. Fawson against the spread when they were on the road three and ten, and for ut rear Grand Valley not as bad six and eight against the spread. But they just struggled all the way around when it came to these teams being able to hit the road. Because you do have a lot of these teams out in the great state of Texas, a lot of these seam succeeded on the road. You only had three teams cover fewer than fifty percent of their games on the road. New Orleans won seven to ten against the spread on the road, and Carnet Word five and twelve against the spread on the road, Commerce six and ten against the spread on the road, while Texas A and M Corpus Chrissy was eleven three and one against the spread on the road, Nichols twelve and six against the spread, Southeas Louisiana Northwestern State, nine and seven against the spread on the road, Lamar and even eight and eight McNeese and even seven and seven and Euston Christian eight seven and one against the spread as underdogs did yield quite a bit of value out there in the cell plone. As in the cellflone, you saw the underdogs really be able to bark nearly the one. Two teams that didn't come through as an underdog Commerce in New Orleans they both went nine and thirteen against the spread as an underdog, and Karine were ten and thirteen against the spread as an underdog. Let Corpus Christy embraced this role nine and one against the spread when they were an underdog. Mcnease was four and two against the spread In this role. They didn't find themselves in it very often, but He's a Christian fourteen eleven and two against the spread as an underdog. Lamar eight six and one again to spread as an underdog, and a lot of these teams they did pretty rock solid in non conference play as well. In non conference play, all but three teams made you money. Northwestern State five and six against the spread and non conference play in Southeast Louisiana, Texas A and m Commerce both four and six against the spread and non conference play. Now, not like these teams were like amazing outside the conference, McNeese being your top team at seven and three against the spread, but it's a Christian five to three and one against the spread Corpus Christi Nichols Lanfelmar either on six and four or sixty four and one against the spread in non conference play in New Orleans five and four and in current words, six and five against the spread. So with this being a little bit of a shall we say more tightly nick conference, a little bit more value on the road teams, and we did see the underdogs being able to mark quite a bit. And we're going to be barking about this conference a lot in the next segment with our good friend in Sean Paul. He does great workover at the Field of sixty eight couple with Action Network and he joins me next right here Seas because myself, Tay Peter said, not every podcast I'll vecuum love people as Vegas. He does great workover at the Field of sixty eight, does great workover at Action Network. They going to look at this wonderful game of college basketball that we all know and love, whether it's the biggest of the big schools or the smallest of the small he does a great job of being able to cover them all. You're able to follow on Twitter slash tacks at Sean Paul CBBN. That is se a n on Sean and Sean. It's always great to get you a board.

Thank you, thanks for having me. Greg as always, I appreciate it.

I appreciate you, Sean and Sean. Let's dive in on a cell phone that we've seen some changes over the last few years, and one of the biggest changes was bringing up Texas A and M Commerce from the D two level to the D one level. Has it necessarily been the trains that they were hoping for, and they do lose quite a few of their top flight scores from a season ago. They're going to be looking at guys. I guess Scooter Williams, who's got a little bit of versatility to help this team out. But the biggest thing that I noticed with Texas A and M Commerce is that they just don't have a lot of size casey Uwakazi, Hopefully I said that correctly, you should be able to give them a little bit. But I just take a look overall, not having a guy above a six foot eight out there in the Cuthon, even though it's not necessarily the biggest conference in terms of size, I think it's really going to be a detriment to this Commerce team.

Yeah, it's going to be a bit of a rough season for Commerce, no doubt. I mean, one of their own, Jerome Brewer, transferred to McNee State, who will talk about later. But when you're losing a guy like that, who's one of their better players last year to an intraconference transfer, that's certainly going to leave a dent. And honestly, at this point, when you're coming up from the D two level, obviously you have to sit out in the four years as a transition team, and it's really tough to want to convince players to go there. I mean, what are you pitching them? You probably don't have the nil that a lot of other schools in your conference do, like an incarnate word and like a McNee State, and you're not pitching them playing in the NCAA tournament because that can't happen if they have one or two years left. Because Commerce has only been at the D one level for two years, So if you're a grad transfer guy with two years left, you don't have a lot of reason to go to Texas A and M Commerce unless you just want to put up a bunch of buckets and get some shots, because you'll probably have that opportunity. So it's a really tough spot for that program. In general. I don't think there's going to be a ton there this year. I think can be a really rough season for them. The one guy maybe to look out for is Tay Mousher coming over from the JUCO level. Started his career at East Carolina then went to Bryant, so he's had some D one experience, so keep an eye out for him. But it's pretty borderline impossible to get a lot of D one transfers to come over to a team that can't play in the tournament.

Yeah, it is going to be really rough for them, and jere Von Rosenberg he's doing all that he can, but I mean it's very much an uphill battle. And then when it comes to the other Texas A and M team, despite the fact that they had to have a bit of a coaching change, Jim Shaw has really done a nice job. I'll be able to keep this team on point. It's hard to be able to keep up with the McNeese and all that they've got. We'll talk about them a little bit later. But bringing back Dion right forward along with Gary Clark from season to ooh is big. Certainly would like to see the three point should need to be a little bit better for the Islanders. But I look at the job that Jim Shaw did last season, with this team playing so rock solid on defense, I'm very impressive. Even though they're not quite on part with mcdeese. I don't think that there's another team that this conference that's better.

Yeah, I mean they're a very solid team. They're getting their guards back with Jordan Roberts and Deon wright Ford. They do lose some pieces like Owen Dese who enter the portal and a few other pieces, but they get a lot back. Gary Clark, like you said, is going to be another important piece. I like what they have. I expect to top five finish this season from Texas A and M. Corpus Christy. They've been very consistent dating back to when Steve Lutz was there. I think that'll continue this season with the number of important returning pieces and a good overall culture going on there for the Islanders.

Yeah, only a team that does a great job of b OH generally turnovers as well, and I like what this team has been able to do as well. Alvin Brooks, I feel like, is one of the more underappreciated coach is in all of college basketball. Now for Lamar, they're going to be losing a few pieces from that backcourt from a season ago, but BB Knight is going to be back six to six, do it all sort of player. Adam Hamilton won their top rebounders. He's going to be back as well, and Alexis Mambo Jolas. Hopefully I said that correctly. He should be able to give this team a bit of something as well on that backboard. I look at Lamar and they are probably going to take a little bit of a setback from a season ago, but I like what's being built out there from Lamar, and I think that Alvin Brooks is really doing it right over with Lamar.

Yeah, they definitely lost some pieces I mean, one guy that is really going to be a big missing piece is Terry Anderson, who transferred to High Point. What he was able to do just as an athletic wing who can play the four and defend at a really, really high level, was an impactful player on the offensive end. That's just not a guy you can really replace. By adding a guy like aj Marmalay host to be really important for them average over twenty points per game at Arizona Western College. I think he could end up being their best player. He was really impressive as a score, good shooter, good size. I think he could be a very good player and maybe ends up being their best player. But as you said, BB Night is back. Cody Pennebaker, another returning guard, should be a solid piece as a junior. So they have some solid returning pieces, But I don't see them really contending for a whole lot. This year. They lost a lot and I just don't see it happening here.

Yeah, but I'm right there with you. I don't think that they're on par with Corpus Chrissy, certainly not mcnease, but in sort of that tier two of the Southland, I think that they could be there as joining me on the show. We do have Sean Paulo does such great work off Right Action Network on the Field sixty eight joining me for the Celtland preview right here on Costcoast sums in for Northwestern sake, Murphy's Law really hit this team. They had so many injuries before the season even started last year. Rick Cabrera, he has to come up from the junior college level to coach up this team. And I like the fact that they bring to Mike and Thomas. Mike and Thomas is someone that I really liked when he was over Nichol's last few seasons. He should be able to come in there give them some nice contribution. Love bettis if you're able to keep him out there on the floor as well. He had some nice contributions out there in the swack as well. It's still a team that doesn't necessarily have a lot of death, but I feel like after a really brutal year number one, at the very least, we could see some baby steps here from Northwestern State.

The Northwestern State. I mean, I see some real sleeper appeal here if they're able to stay healthy, because they have some guys that have dealt with injuries in the past. Like you said, Mike Thomas only played seven games last year, so we got a red shirt season, was able to transfer. But this is a guy who started to at Indiana State after going to the JUCO level and average nine points per game in twenty twenty one twenty two in the Valley, then went down had a few decent seasons down at Nickels State. But he could be a really good piece for this Northwestern State team. But the piece I'm really looking at is Addison Patterson, who was back with the team. He tore his ACL last year, left the team, and then decided to come back. This is a guy that once upon a time was a top fifty recruit, went to Oregon, didn't really work out there, went to Nevada, spent a year at JUCO, went to Northwestern State, got hurt. Now he's back, he's actually going to play. And this is a guy, obviously that has a high major talent. He's never been a very good shooter. That's been his one downfall. But if you're looking at someone who could rebuild their career and hopefully parlay into a strong pro career, it's Addison Patterson. Because this guy could end up being a thirteen to fifteen point per game kind of guy, and it wouldn't surprise me because of that pedigree he has, is a big time athlete, has great size. He's going to have a real opportunity to be a big time player for Northwestern City if he's able to stay on the court. I see a lot of potential there with this team and with Addison Patterson.

Totally agree with you. When he committed to Northwestern State last year, a juco recruiting dot com at him as a top ten player in terms of Jude and your college recruiting cycle for that season as well. So I really do think that he could be able to provide some upside. And I take a look at this unit, well, they're hoping for all the upside that they can get as Ron control. He was at Houston Christian for oh so long. Now it's a little bit of a passing of the tour Chez Craig Doty. I believe that he was at in Pooria State. He takes over the program and there's a few returning pieces. Pierce Basil, He's going to be coming back, But I don't think that you want a lot of pieces returning from Houston Christian last year. As this team just has never played any defense over the past seconde or so, it's going to be a little bit of a new book team. They've had it a little bit of size with something like an a Jeannie Lee who comes in as a six foot nine guy, that should be able to help a little bit. And I think that for Houston Christian, it's just all about being able to build some positive momentum with guys like an Elijah Brooks coming over from North Dakota.

I mean, yeah, it's been a really rough stretch for Houston Christian. I mean they haven't done a whole lot of winning. They had four wins in twenty nineteen, twenty twenty, and I mean really dating back to twenty seventeen, they haven't had a season with more than twelve wins. They've only had three seasons with double digit wins. I mean, it's been a complete disaster for them in one of the worst conferences in college basketball according to Ken Palm, pretty much every season now. But I think Craig Doty is a really good coach and the thing he's looking to add kind of based on what I got from him during my interview with him for the Field of sixty eight. So off the Carousels series. He wants guys that'll defend, guys that'll play hard, some size, and that sounds like to him like something that's a little bit easier to build and build a culture around than just having a bunch of guys who are going to be offensive players right away. So that's where you see Damari Williams coming in. Guy who started at Arizona State, went to Oral Roberts now he is at Houston, Christian Johnny Lee from Saint Thomas. He added some transfers that I think could be a very solid group for this team, but it's going to be an uphill battle. I think they could get to double digit wins this year, which is pretty impressive for what it's been recently, but they're not going to be any kind of real contender in this conference. But I would not surprise me if Craig Dotey got this thing rolling at some point.

And I think the question when it comes to this program is is a hole greater than the sum of its parts. As for New Orleans, the last few seasons, they were completely based around Jordan Johnson, a guy that put up twenty one a half points per contest, but it really didn't lead to a lot of wins that other than Caleb Brose, nobody else was able to generate for the team a double figure about the points per game last season. Both of those guys are gone. Now you're looking at more of those ancillary pieces like in o'marian Henry Josh Short really beating the guys for the team. And it's a very undersized team. I think that Luke Davis is the only guy above six foot seven for this unit, So certainly they're gonna have a little bit of a tough time on the glass. I really do like James White Provice has a little bit of versatility, But I think for Stacey Hull, well, this is gonna be a little bit of an uphill battle for him at New Orleans as well.

Yeah, I mean, losing Jordan Johnson is big. Was he a big contributor to winning Maybe not. I think it was more out of necessity. I don't think they had enough around him to really make this a good team. He really just had to shoot the ball and he was a big time score. I mean that can't be understated. But they also return Mason Jones, and Josh Short, but James White is going to need to be the guy here. I think this is a guy that started at Ole Miss, went to UA B didn't work out at either of those two spots. He was a pretty highly tauted recruit and this is not the kind of guy that New Orleans could have gotten out of high school. So they really have to hope that they struck gold getting a guy on the downs swing and that he's able to really become what people thought he would become out of high school. But some of these other pieces, Luke Davis is going to have to be a solid piece coming over from the JUCO level. You really have to strike gold here with some of these guys, and I'm not sure the talent level is enough to really make them above a bottom four team in this conference.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I think that's going to be a pretty rough year for New Orleans, losing that top flight score like you had in Johnson. That's just all sorts of brutal. But I see some upside here within cartinate word. I'm not sure if they got like an in flex of nil money or anything like that, but if you got two guys coming over from ball State and Davion Bailey and Jill and Anderson that were rock solid. And Anderson is a guy that's put up double figures at ball State. He was a very solid player at Loyal Marimount as well. You'll bring back Sean Robinson, a guy that six foot nine has some versatility. Depth not really there, but TJ. Ford junior, which is it's crazy. I remember watching TJ. Ford. He was a part of the Milwaukee Bucks way back in the day, so and so being on the team that's a little bit crazy. But for incarnate word, depth is on aso there. But they got some top flight talent and I think that they could be able to ascend in his conference.

They're a much more talented team than last year, that's for sure. I mean you look at what they had a season to go. It was sky Wicks who was taking a bunch of shots. He's a fine player. But like when you can trade sky Wicks for Jalen Anderson and Daveon Bailey, who were legitimately good players at the MAC level. And Anderson started as creat Loyal and Marymount. When you're getting two guys that were good players at a much higher level. They're going to translate in a big way, especially two guys that have played together. It would not surprise me if that's a duo that averages like seventeen a piece, like they were able to make it work before at ball State. Would not surprise me if they were able to make it work together and Atcarnate Word. Bailey's a great shooter Anderson's a really good overall score. That's going to be a really intriguing duo. But also keep an eye on Jordan Pike, who's coming over from Union at the D two level. He's a freak athlete. I know about a year ago, I want to say, there was a bunch of highlights circulating of him making crazy dunks and just making a bunch of highlight plays. He had a solid overall freshman season, So we'll see if he ends up being more than just a highlight reel player. He looked really good last year from what I saw. I think he needs to improve his shooting a little bit, but there's obviously a lot of untapped potential there. I think he's more than just a highlight player. I think he could be a really good fit for this Incarnate Word team who also gets Sean Robinson, like you said, a number of other players back that will help them out on the interior. They're not just a guard team. I would have hoped, like you said, they could have had a little more depth here there and needs some of their freshmens to hit right away to make that less of an issue. But they have some really solid starters, and that's a big thing in the Southland.

Yeah, it certainly is. Someone else is big in the southland's having some returning talent in We've got that with Southeast Wuisiana. Brodie Rowberry, he was there, a top rebounder from a seasgo had six foot eleven and a conference that I've been alluding to, not necessarily a ton of size. He's going to be back. And then you got Thomas six foot nine guy. I believe that he began his career over at St. Peters. He's coming into the fold as well, really like what sam Ians Junior is able to spend a little bit of time over at South Florida, spends some time at Denver. He's able to be a nice six foot six score as well. And then they bring into kave On Buckley, who was one of those guys over at Lamar we were talking about their losses. He was the guy that was able to dole out the ball. He was able to put up some points as well. And I think look at Southern Louisiana, silly a team has been looking to play a little bit slower under David Kiefer, but they've been able to build some in roads here in the conference, and I think that they're going to be pretty rock solid once again with having quite a few guys retrinking from the season to go. Yeah.

Sam Hines, to me is another guy that you take a look. You're like, this is a guy that started a bit at South Florida. I mean he started almost every game in twenty twenty two, twenty twenty three, given that was a really bad team. But last year South Florida was really good and he still started eleven games. He was a consistent rotation player on the team that won over twenty games and won twenty five games and made it to the NIT and one a game in the n It like, this was a good South Florida team with a bunch of guys who ended up transferring to the high major level, and yet Sam Hines still found a way to make an impact in the rotation. He only attempted three point three shots per game, decent efficiencies. Not a very good shooter, but if you can double those shot attempts, make it seven or eight average four points a game. You could easily see how this guy's averaging ten to twelve points per game on a team that can use a little bit of scoring. So he's going to make a difference for this team, no doubt. I think he could be a good piece next to Brody Rowberry on the interior. There need some help with the guards though maybe it's Buckley, maybe it's c. J. Booker who's also coming in from a ut Rio Grand Valley. There needs some of those guards to really hit or that could be a problem for him. But I love what they have in the front court. Their depth also doesn't seem great to me, but I could see how this team ends up being solid this year. Replacing Nick Caldwell is going to be quite a tough task, but I like what they have on paper.

Yep. I do like what they've got as well. And then when it comes to this bunch with Nichols just year in a year out, they're a pretty rock solid team. In the CELFA and Tayvon Sadler is one of the youngest coaches in all of basketball, and they do lose a few pieces from a season ago, but Jamal West was one of those main guys for them a season ago at six with six all sorts of great versatility. He's going to be back Trey English. He's certainly someone as well that we still have to talk about mcdees. He was over there at McNee a few seasons ago. He now comes into Nichols and he should be able to play a big role in this backcourt as well. Byron Ireland, he's someone that has rocks out in the backcourt. He's now a senior as well. And I look at this team and they don't necessarily have that one guy other than West that I think it'd be really a takeover guy. But they've got a lot more death on a lot of these teams out in the Ceutland. And I really like the job that's Hadler is done in a short time at Nichols.

Yeah, this is a really interesting team. I mean, they lost some pieces with Deontay Smith leaving, but they do get Rob brown Back, who had a really good year last year. They get Byron Ireland back their two starting guards. They add Caleb Robinson, who was the starter a starter for Gardner Webb. They add Sincere Malone who was a really versatile defender could play a lot of different roles for this team. They had Ike Cornish who began his Crean Maryland that he transferred to Ohio. Didn't do a whole lot last year, but drops down another level and we'll look to find some success at Nichols and Amaron Ellis start as Grant Marquette went to Bradley again, never really found success there and now he's at Nichols. I could see that Tavon Sadler is really trying to find something and these guys that were at high major schools now on their third locations and really trying to get something out of them. I think he's a great coach. I think he's going to continue finding diamonds in the rough here but returning what they return, adding some of the important pieces that they bring in. I could see how this team ends up in the top five conversation the Southland and maybe a little bit better in that.

Yep, I'm right there with you. I think that Nichols going to be finding themselves in the upper half of the Celtland, and you've got this team to talk about, And well, if anyone's gonna be willing to put a team above McNeice in the SOUTHLND, you just let me know, because I look at McNeese as not necessarily so much a cellphone team but pretty much a minor league affiliate of the SEC at this point with Will Wade coaching it up, you're bringing can hear Copeland over from Syracuse? Since here Parker was the top score over at Saint Lewis. You breakback Christian showmate Joe Charles was the top ringbounder over at Louisiana DJ Turning up Richards is a double figure score. Brandon Murray began his career out there in the SEC. Mike Sanders Junior began his career over at Cincinnati. Brian Selbung you he was a eight plus rebound per game guy over at Tulsa. You let me know if there's someone in the Cuthland that we should put above McNee And you just let me know, because I look at this sea and I think that they should run rough shot at this conference.

Lsu Greg, I mean, I know Will Wade is a very polarizing figure, to say the least in college basketball. What do you think about Will Wade? Do you think he gets a result college basketball? Do you think he's good for college back? Because I think he is. I know that's very uncommon. He said these exact words and me in an interview, he's unapologetically himself, like this guy is very honest, and you know, again, say what you will. But Will Wade gets wins. He won games at the SEC level, he won games at the A ten level, he won games at the SoCon level, and now he's winning games at the Southland left. We saw it last year and the thing about last year's team is they played really slow, and to me, that was always going to be a problem for them in the NCAA tournament, especially when you're matching up against a team like Gonzaga who wants to push the pace. If that was a Gonzaga tempo game, they were never going to win it. And that's what it ended up being. I mean, this team this year, though, beyond Shahada Wells being just an absolute stud, he's gone, this team top to bottom is more talented than what they had last year and last year's team was ridiculously talented. You're adding a guy in Cincia Parker who could easily average twenty points per game, but he does not have to on this team. If he was at Lamari, he'd probably have to average twenty plus points per game and could easily. But he could be the six man for this team. They could start Javon Garcia, they could start Brandon Murray, they could start DJ Richards, could Hear Copeland, Mike Saunders, Omar Cooper. Christian Schumate will be a starter and he's a leader of this team. Joe Charles is a guy that gets forgotten about a lot, but he is a big four man that can shoot the ball from outside at a really high clip and rebounds well. Jerome Brewer, a guy that was the best player at Commerce last year, is going to be the ninth or tenth man on this team. And he's another guy that I think has a lot more potential than he showed. He's a really efficient score he's athletic, but he can shoot the ball better than what his percentage was a season ago. And Brian Celebungey is going to be a big time piece for this team with his rebounding and ability to protect the rim like Antavian Column. Losing him is going to be important a bit because Cela Bungey can't shoot it like him. But you can move Jerome Brewer to the five in a small ball lineup, and I think it works because you have athletes all over the place besides him, Like you could go with the lineup with Kadir Copeland at the one, since your Parker at the two, Brandon Murray at the three, Charles at the four, and Jerome Brewer at the five, and that would still be the best team in this conference. And then you can go with the second unit, still the best team in this conference. They have a ridiculous amount of death if all the players buy into their roles. I don't see how this team loses the game in conference play. There's one game I think they could lose in conference play, and obviously, realistically they probably will lose one. Just tough to win every single game in league play. They'll be heavy favorites in just about every game. There's only one team that I think could have their number on the right night, but we haven't gotten to them yet. But this team is pretty ridiculously talented for the Southland level.

Oh, I'm right there with you. As our good friend Sean Paul does great workover at the field of sixty eight. He's joining to be right here on Coscos hoops and my goodness gracious with McNeice, I think that's gonna be really interesting to see what we get out of them. And Stone Cold Steve Nap Austin, they are back in the Culfland and I thought we were done with all the teams, but that said, our good friends they are back in the Cuthland for Steven f Austin. Last time they were in the Cuthland they were just absolutely dump trucking teams. As we know, they've got that distinct style to where they're gonna generate a lot of turnovers. They're gonna turn the ball over themselves, but they're gonna be able to generate a lot of turnovers. Just how do you view this Stone Cold Steven f Awston team one that two years ago shot it so well from three point range, saw that go down the toilet bowl. A little bit less season, but as we know with bringing back Nan a t. Boasico at six o' nine, a little bit of a combo player, bringing in. Keon Thompson was a nice rock solid score or right U Mass. This is a team that comes into the cell phone and right away they should be one of the better teams in this conference.

Yeah, I mean, this is the number two team in this league for me. Kyle Keller has done a great job there. Obviously they're not at the same state that they were winning thirty plus games under Brad Underwood. But I mean this is still a really good program that plays a style that is tough to prepare for because you're gonna get their best on every single night. And we just saw last year. I mean, I believe they beat Grand Canyon. They made it close. They lost by two, but on the right night, like they made it really close at home against Grand Canyon, they could do the same thing against McNee State and it wouldn't surprise me. And they have some of that high major talent. I mean. Keon Thompson began his career at Boston College and went to UMass. Chris Johnson was a top one hundred recruit last year. Was initially committed to Kansas, I think, and then went to Texas. There was some Kansas connection there. Then Thierra Nocilla coming in from UCF Like this was a guy that was a legitimate rotational player at UCF last year who made the NIC and he was a real factor for them. He could end up being the best defensive big man in this conference. He is going to be a real problem at the core for this Steven F. Austin defense. This is a good team. Their offense is going to be a bit of a question. But defensively, this team's going to be really good. Creesean Christmas should be another good player. They're going to force a bunch of turnovers, are going to be really good. Defensively, they're going to be tough to play. Their shooting is going to be a bit of a problem most likely, But overall, I think Steven F. Austin is the second best team in this.

League absolutely, and then ut Rio Grand Value. They are also back at the Saltland as well as Coffers. Real alignment is dripping up all the best of us. So if you're getting dripped off, have no fear, because that's happening to all of us. But for eg Rio Grand Valley, it's been a rough last few seasons for them. They've had quite a few coaching changes now Kahalil Fanell is going to be looking to be able to upgrade the seam. But what I do like about EU Trio Grand Value is that they bring back what I thought was by far the best scorer last season. Hassan abdulah Keem will miss a few games last season, but at six he was able to vombit from three point range. Cliff Davis, he was at top scorer over at Northwestern State a season ago. He is back and you could tell that there might be a little bit of nil money or something like that coming into this program. As now. They're bringing in Caadrian Thorn, who as one of the top scores over at Alcorn State. JJ Howard is the guy that I like as well. Three D Rio Grand Valley. It's been a lot of bearish seasons for them. They're out there in a whack where it's just a higher level of competition than in the cell Phone. I think the Rio Grand Valley can make that transition on over to the cell phone and be able to be towards the middle slash of the upper half of the conference right away.

Yeah, I like this team. I mean overall, Cahill Finella as a really talented team for what we've seen recently for ut Rio Grand Valley, and it really all starts with retaining Hassan Abdul. Lakimu initially entered the Portal, decided to come back. Retaining him change their offseason because this is a guy that's six foot eight. He's their point guard average thirteen a game, five rebounds, three assists, Like you say, can bomb it from deep. But the thing that's so impressive to me, he's so good at knowing when he can post up a smaller player and use his height to his advantage. Because a lot of times he's going as a point guard, he's going to be matchup with six two, six to four. At most guys, you're not really going to be matching it forwards on him because it puts you at a disadvantage in other spots. And Hassan Abdul that keeam can really take advantage of those mismatches and he's just really smart. I want to see him take the next step though, become more of an aggressive scorer. If he does that, he could be one of the best scorers in this conference. We already saw glimpses of it last year. If he's able to be a more aggressive scorer. I think that's the one thing for him. Kat Ramy coming in was really good at the juco level. Didn't really get it going at De Paul, but nobody's really getting it going at the Paul the past couple of seasons. He can shoot the ball. He'll be a good piece for this team. Again, like you said, it would not surprise me if this team ends up sneaking up a little bit in the top five, top four range if things really good going.

Yep, absolute and those two editions to the south wind they literally just happened, I would say, in the last month, month and a half or so. So it's a changing landscape out there in college basketball. And Sean, you're doing a great job be able to cover it all over at Action Network the Field of sixty eight as well. So big thanks to Sean for joining me in the last segment. Now it is that time the podcast I give you my projector or finish for the Celflin because I am doing a conference preview today. That means that the news and notes that we saw the past forty eight hours in college basketball those are going to be recapped tomorrow. Anything that we saw on Sunday, well, I have you guys covered there. Those will not be neglected. So have no fear, as let's take a look at what we've got out here in the cellflone and in my projector or finished at dead last. I'm going Texas A and M. Commerce has just been a brutal run for the seam trying to transition up to the Division one level. I do like Scooter Williams, the number of thirty five junior college prospect according to juco recruiting dot Com, who avered about twenty one a half points a little bit over a block per contest at the lower level. And you've got Calique abdul Mtee who's returning after he had about five points per game. But as alluding to it, not too much guyes with this team, casey Uakazi, he was able to give the team about three rebounds per game. And Commerce attempted forty six percent in their field goals from three point range. I was twenty first among Division one teams, and well, they had a twenty five point three percent road three point shooting percentage last year that was second last in all of college basketball. They lose a lot of those good three point shooters from a season goal, so I think that it's going to be all sorts of brutal for Commerce this season. I have got them dead last in terms of my projector or finish at number eleven. I am going with New Orleans. The Privateers lose their top three scorers from a season ago that was three hunderd and twentieth in the country, turns points a lot on a per possession basis. Jordan Johnson, while it was a case where perhaps his scoring bogged down the team a little bit, there's just nobody else that could really supply for the team. And if you've got Mason Jones back, who was able to give the team about five points per contest, Josh Short a little bit over his steal six a half points per game. And I do like the fact that they bring in James White a for a UAB and Old Miss was averaging about three and a half points per contest over at those two stops. But team was round fourteenth in terms of points scored on a purposession basis. With Johnson in the fold, only twenty two and a half percent of their shots came from three point range, so they don't have a lot of guys are able popping from three. They have really no size down low and they were forty third and opponent two point shooting percentage as well. Not a lot to love here with New Orleans with the Privateers, I do have them in my projector finish at number eleven and number ten. I'm gonna be going with Uster Christian. He's a Christian, a very fascinating team, and that they are without ron Katrell for the first time in seemingly and eon they're gonna be replacing him with Heike Dody, who comes in from Imporia State, where he was ninety seven and seventy six over the past six seasons, with one in CAA tournament appearance in twenty twenty three. Not like he was the most established coach in the world, but brings back Pierce Basil after he was able to give the team about six points per contests. He needs to improve his thirteen and a half percent three point shooting percent for a team that has collective shot twenty nine and a half percent from distance a season ago. This is a squad that was just absolutely brutal in terms of their defense, and they do bring in a guy in Dody who he was aligning with teams at the D two levels score only sixty four and a half points per contest. That would have ranked twelfth at the D one level last season. So I do anticipate quite a bit of shall we say, change with regards to the style that they're going to be playing, and why do they need to be a little bit more efficient in terms of their shooting? They were throwing fifty third in their free throw shooting percentge last year sixty four point one percent. Have a lot of junior college, a lot of now on D one transfers coming in. So for Houston Christian, I do think that's going to be a little bit of rough sletting for them, but do think that there's a little bit more upside than with those bottom two teams. So set them number ten in terms of my projector or finished at number nine. I'm gonna be going Northwestern State for the Demons. Being able to get Addison Pattison back is massive junior college recruiting dot com two coo recruiting dot com. Adam as a top ten transfer guy that was a former top seventy five recruit over at Oregon over end and never really played a ton of minutes for them, but tore it up at the lower level. And then you've got Love Bettis, who in six games over at Florida A and M last season was logging eleven point three points per contest a steal and shot forty six point from three points. They do lose a lot of guys like Cliff Davis from a season ago, but Mike Thomas, who was able to log about eight points, three assists and a seal per game two seasons ago at Nichols before being limited to seven games last season, he's in the fold. You bring in John Saunders, who he was over at Coast the Carolina last season. He was able to do out the ball with about two and a half assists per game. JT. Warren is someone that was able to give the team five points per contest, but he was limited to six games as well. You really just need this seam just stay healthy. LaDue Lacouf, he's a six to ten big man that should be able to help out down though after he was at Arkansas State a season ago for Northwestern State, I do think that that's a long climb for them, but I do think that baby steps are going to be taken forward this season. I do have them in terms of my projector or finished at number nine, at number eight, I'm gonna be going with Lamar. For Lamar, they do have quite few losses from a Seasongo, but they are going to be able to bring back a few guys that were big pieces of that team from a Seasongo and Bbnight who had ten and a half points shot thirty seven percent from three, Cody Pennebaker, he was able to give the team eight points three in emphasis per contest last season as well, and then they're going to be looking to the junior college level for Andrew Holyfield, who was written by juco Recruiting dot com as an honorable mention for their class of twenty twenty four in their top one runner he was able to log about two blocks per contests and Alexis and Mama Joles he was number sixty two on that list where he was everiting twenty two and a half points per game or at Arizona Western. Don't know if that's necessarily going to translate, but Dan quiz delwassee he's also a guy that was at the non D one level over at Central Oklahoma last season, he was able to shoot about forty percent from three part range. As you could tell, there's going to be a lot of non Division one flair, which I do like for Lamar. With Lamar, they've done a nice job unearthing Sir James. They are going to be without scary Terry Anderson from a siezgo who was able to do a nice job give the team double figure. Are going to be a bit more of an undersized team than they were a season ago. But I really do like the job that Alvin Brooks is doing with this program. Even with losing the likes of Chris Pryan Company, I do think that retaining Adam Hamilton was able to get the team about six half rebounds per game. That's going to be enough download to be able to keep them relatively competitive. So turns Ryan projector Or finished at number eight, I am going to be going with Lamar at number seven. I'm gonna be going with ut Rio Grand Value for Grand Valley. The fact that they were able to maintain some of their nice pieces from his season ago, I think it's big while being able to bring in an influx of the new Matt Figure is now out as his team's coach, but he was able to unearth the guy. And that's on Abduo team who I really liked last season. At six foot eight, shot thirty five and a half percent for three thirteen points, three and a half asis five rebounds per contest. Now you don't have a ton outside of him. Returning c J. Booker, he was able to give out two assists, gave the team about six a half points per game, So that's going to be a little bit of something to build around. But even with that, I do think that for this Utrio Grand Valley team, they did a nice job being able to bring some transfers that I think are going to be able to make an immediate impact. Cliff Davis, he was over at Northwestern State, a nice so both figure scorer for them to carry. Durian Thorn was a double figure scorer over at Alcorn State a season ago. And then you bring in someone lake a kat Raimy who yes he was at to Paul and de Bell stunk, but he's able to pop some threes. He's able to give you a little bit of something in the back coourt. They also retained JJ Howard, one of their ancillary pieces from a season ago. Going to be a team that likes guys outside of Marshall disc Jermal Hopefully, I said that correctly. You really don't have anyone other than that Abdual team who's north of six and six on this roster. But I do think that Khalil Fanel is going to be able to do a solid job. And you're number one, a guy that has really taken his bumps to be able to get to this level. And I do think that in season number one gonna have ut Rear Grand Valley looking pretty darn and respectable in this conference. So to have ut Rear Grand value number seven in terms of by projector or finished at number six, I'm gonna be going think gardnet word. I really like the fact that you bring in Jalen Anderson, want dave On Bailey. These are a pair of guys that were all at ball State season ago. And for Jalen Anderson, this guy began his career over at Loyal Marrimount, a proven score and a guy that's able to do out the ball was giving out about three assists per contests a few seasons ago. Just everywhere that he has been he's been a nice double figure scorer. So me shuredop out a team that is probably not going to be having a ton of depth, You're gonna need to rely upon these two guys quite a bit. But Bailey, did you forty two and a half percent for three twelve and a half points per contests eight season ago. Dylan Hayman, he was the top returning scorer from Lion season. He was number five on the roster, being able to log about eight points per game for a team that was three fifty fifth in the country in terms of turnovers committed on a per possession basis. But Leaman Sabali he was able to give the team a little bit of something coming off of the bench for UT San Antonio since six foot seven, little bit of a combo player. Miteius Macchus is also someone that is coming in after he was limited to very few minutes over at Central Florida. So there are some swings being taken in the transfer portal and guys that had a little bit of upside coming out of Ice will never really got those minutes at a little bit of a higher level, and now they are going to need to look to get to the free throw line a little bit more after there were three or thirty ninth in the country in terms of free throws attempted on a per pee play basis as season Goo. But that core of Bailey and lont Anderson, I think is going to rise up this in card at work team. I've got them number six in terms of my projector finished and number five. I'm going to be going to Southeast Louisiana. Love the fact that they bring back Boden Woodbury, a six foot eleven big man that's able to do a nice job down low. He's able to give you a little bit of our block. He's able to do a nice job calling in there about five and a half rebounds per game. And then you've got Sam Hines coming in from South Florida after being a part time starter last season, full time starters two seasons ago, averaging about seven points five and a half rebounds per game two seasons ago. Jacave On Buckley is going to be coming over from Lamar, where he was able to average about eight points two and half of sis per contest. C J. Booker. He was over at ut where a Grand Valley a season ago, so I spoke out. It turned Grand Valley actually did lose Booker, so forgive me on that one. But he was able to give out about two assist per contest to Twn Grimes as well. He was over at Baylor to begin his career. Really didn't see a ton of minutes while he was over at Baylor, but he made eight out of his twelve threes last season, So I had something encouraging. You bring back cam Burton as well, a guy that was able to give the team five and a half points, shot forty percent from three. Pint Inch Thomas Tutt. He comes over from Saint Peter's. And while you've got a lot of guards in this conference, Southeast Louisiana they're going to be looking to play a little bit more slowly. They're going to be looking to play through the post. And I do like this approach. So I've got Southeast Louisiana number five towards my projector or finished, and number four I'm going with Nichols in their first year under Tevint Sadler is one of the youngest coaches in all of college basketball. Nichols was able to get to twenty wins. They Shohn nearly thirty seven percent from three part range. While they do lose a few key pieces, they do bring in a guy in Brian Miles, but I think is going to be able to fit this program very nicely. He was over at perry View last season twelve points, signboards, stealing half, nearly a block per contest, shot in that neighbor about thirty five percent from three parrach. Couple that with the fact that you are going to be bringing back when we are a top two guys from the sason aas Nichols. I really felt like they had a big two last season. They lose one of those guys and Deontay Smith, who just did it all sixteen points, six boards, three assists, two seals, shot thirty nine and a half percent from three pint inch. But Jamal West gave the team thirteen points, toled out two assists, a block and a half per contest. He wasn't as much of a three point shooter. But Rob Brown I believe coming back as well. That's gonna be nice as well as for mister Brown, he was able to give the team about thirteen point eight points per contest, shot forty one percent for three. Trey English after he missed the entirety of the twenty twenty three to twenty four season. He was at mcneesse two seasons ago, logged about eleven points, gave out three and a half assists a little bit over a seer and a half per contest. You pair that up with Kalob Robinson coming in from Gardner Web where he was able to give the team about twelve and a half points six half rebounds per game. Amaron ellis he was glued to the bench while he was over at Marquette, But this is a former top two to fifty recruit that should be able to provide a bit of something as well. I really think that Nichols has some pretty nice step then they've got some good pieces are turning. So I do have Nickels at number four in terms of my projector or finish at number three, I'm going with Texas A and M Corpus Chrissy. For Corpus Chrissy, they're not going to have as many of those offensive contributors or anything like that. And for this team, they were I believe outside the top three hundred in terms of points scored on a purposession basis, says their home three point shooting percentage right three and fifty second in all of college basketball. They were three and fortieth and three point shooting percentage overall at twenty nine point four percent. But you bring back Gary Clark thirteen points eight boards per contest he was able to add in their aco per contest on right Ford. I love the fact that he's able to give you a cel ten and a half points per game. This is one of the best teams at being a ripped the ball away. They were thirty fourth in the country in terms of turnovers force on an offensive play baseball basis, and thirty first in opponents three point shooting percentage at thirty one percent. They also did a nice job of being able to keep teams off the free throw line, with only twenty two point one percent of opponent shots coming from three point range. They did a nice job of really making things go in side a little bit more as well. They bring in Sheldon Williams after he was rated by juco recruiting dot Com as the number thirty six junior college transfer for the class of twenty twenty four, logging twenty two and a half points per contest at the lower level over at Coastal Alabama Self They do a nice job bringing back some of those glue guys as well, like a Steven Gewa who was able to give you five points five and a half rebounds per game as a six foot nine big man. Jordan Roberts is really the only player that was able to make more than a three pointer per game last season, and you've was able to shoot thirty seven percent for three nine and a half points per game. Him coming back is going to be massive for Corpus Chrissy have some question marks with regards to the offensive side of things, but on defense they proved to be rock solid. They went through a rough coaching change with Steve Lotz, who was now over at Oklahoma leaving the program, yet they really didn't miss a beat on the defensive side things. So do you think that they're going to be in for a solid year. I've got them number three in terms by a projector or finish and number two is going to be stone cold Steven Fawson. For Steven Fawson, they just have a distinct side. And even though they were in the Self Found a few seasons ago, a lot of these teams happen to reacclimate to the fact that this is one of the top teams in all of college basketball in terms of turnovers sports on a per possession basis, that's going to hurt them. You've got Kean Thompson and that's going to hurt the opponents. Not Steven of Fawson, by the way, but Kean Thompson nine points, four boards, three assists a steel per game over at U mess He's going to do a nice job of being that guy that runs the offense for the team. You've got the duo of Kyle Hayman Aldana a t bosco whateverage a combined eighteen points, eight a half boards, two steals on thirty three point shooting and on tv b Wuseco he was a six to nine big band doing all that. And it is Christmas for the team as Kashawn Christmas. He was able a log five and a half points, four and a half boards, a little bit over a seal per contest last season. Fier No Siella. He's coming over from Central Florida where he was able to give the team about four and a half points four boards, and Chris Johnson. He spent the twenty twenty three to twenty four season on the Texas bench after being a top winner recruit. That's a nice upside piece that they are going to be adding. Now the team might want to be a little bit more disciplined. I recognize that this is part of the style, but they were three and fifty eighth in the country in terms of fellls committed on a per possession and a per offensive play basis last season, and they were going to be looking to get back to that three point shooting swagger that they had two seasons ago where they were in the top twenty five nationally in terms of three point shooting percentage. They do lose some of those nice backward pieces that you saw. They're going to be losing rock solid contributors like a Latrell Jostl having out day Day Hall, who did miss about half the season last year. That's going to be hurting them. But overall, do look at the seam and I do think that they're going to be the top competition to make nice But with McNeese air the number one team in terms of my protector or finished, it's just absolutely remarkable what they've been able to do in the transfer portal. They do lose Shahada Wells. But you bring back Christian Schuelemate average Darney a double double last season twelve points, nine and a half rebounds per game. DJ turned it up. Richards was a nice double figure scorer that popped it well from three point range at about forty five point one percent from three point range. Out of him, you just have one weapons upon weapons. Brandon Murray was a double figure score over at Georgetown a few seasons ago. Spend some time at LSU. He knows very much what will Wade brings to the table, and he has decided that he is going to be entering into the full Mack Sanders was limited just eighteen games last season. He was someone that began his career at Cincinnati and was actually a contributor over at Cincinnati. No less, that should be someone that with a clean bill of healf should be able to give this team quite a bit of production. On top of that, they bring in the top score over at Saint Louis when he was fully healthy a season ago, and Cincire Parker in his fifteen games, logged about sixteen points, four and a half boards, shot forty two and a half percent from three point range. Jerome Brewer. He was the top scorer over at Texas A and m commerce A due all player fourteen points, four and a half boards, block and after contest. This team was thirteenth in the nation in terms of a point score on a purpossession basis thirty third and opponent two point shooting percent. Last season, setator bung You Brian center bung You. He averaged only about five points and four boards per contest at Arizona State last season, but two seasons ago at Tulsa twelve points nine boards per contest. He is going to be rock solid for the same downlow you bring in. Joe Charles also fortify the post nine and a half boards, nearly two steals and a block per game while it was over at Louisiana while being a career thirty six percent three point shooter. It's a just embarrassment of riches for the team. I think that you're going to see this bunch in McNeese really be able to scare a lot of bigger teams. I would not doubt it. If this is going to be one of the best man majors in all of college basketball this season. I think that they should dominate the selflin I've got McNees number one in terms of by projector of finish and that will wrap things up for the Health and Conference preview edition right here on Goods Seeps now part of the Vson Family podcast.
