Meghan welcomes comedian and actress Heather McMahan alongside her longtime producer and best friend Christina "Tina" Tompkins — a duo who met in college and have been running each other's lives ever since. Fresh off a red-eye during Emmys week (and running on champagne, Diet Coke, and pure adrenaline), Heather and Tina break down what it actually takes to keep a touring comedy empire from falling apart: the theater-world etiquette outsiders don't expect, the "strap on your rollerblades" energy required of any assistant who wants to survive, and why finding the right person means trusting them with everything from your dogs to your dinner order.

Plus: Heather's hard-won advice on tenacity, thick skin, and betting on yourself — even when the internet has other opinions — ahead of her new Hulu special, By a Thread, out October 16th.

Hollywood doesn't run on red carpets; it runs on assistants. Podcast hosted by Meghan Grimm

Hollywood doesn't run on red carpets; it runs on assistants. Podcast hosted by Meghan Grimm

Hollywood doesn't run on red carpets; it runs on assistants. Behind every headline is the person who booked the car, confirmed the call time, and packed the snacks. In Hollywood, assistants aren't background; they're the operating system. From mailroom gigs, set runners and first feature films to all the chaos behind closed doors, Clyde Confidential lifts the curtain on the industry's most defining (and sometimes mortifying) early career moments. Hosted by Meghan Grimm, founder of the elite entertainment staffing agency Clyde, this podcast brings together the movers and shakers of Hollywood: clients, creators, and ex-assistants turned power players to dish on the real stories from their career journeys and biggest lessons that came out of them.

Welcome Diego and Natalia!

This week, Meghan sits down with her first-ever sibling duo: actor/producer Diego Boneta and his sister (and producing partner) Natalia Boneta. Diego takes us back to the Tom Cruise advice that changed everything — "don't just be an actor waiting for the job, create your vehicles" — and traces the wild path to landing an overall deal with Amazon that terrified them as much as it excited them. Enter Natalia: a Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan alum with zero "industry experience" on paper, who turned out to be exactly what Three Amigos Productions needed to actually deliver on an unreal deal.

Diego and Natalia get real about what it's like to build a company with your sibling — the boundary-setting battles (finance hours vs. film set hours), the trust that lets them call each other out when no assistant could, and the "divide and conquer" dynamic that's kept them working together for years. Plus: advice for the next generation, why this business is "not a meritocracy," and why family always comes first.

Diego & Natalia Boneta: The Sibling Duo Redefining Hollywood Family Business

Savannah Engel, founder of the buzzy agency Savi, and her VP (and self-described "sister") Claire O'Connor sit down with Meghan Grimm for a hilarious, no-filter conversation on building a company together for nearly eight years. Savannah traces her wild path from a Michael Kors intern who caught the designer's eye mid-internship to launching Savi after shattering her leg on her 30th birthday (on painkillers, no less). Claire shares the chaotic, extremely candid story of how she first met Savannah as an 18-year-old assistant. They break down what actually makes their agency different — chasing atypical community instead of traditional press, building brand-new communities through events and unlikely partnerships, and why fashion PR has become so saturated that authenticity is the real currency now. Plus: the wildest work-trip stories (hello, Venice), the secret to running a company with your best friend without losing the friendship, and why Dua Lipa keeps waving at them like she knows them (she doesn't). A masterclass in hustle, chaos, and building something real.

Savannah Engel On How to Make Yourself Indispensable

https://api.omny.fm/orgs/e73c998e-6e60-432f-8610-ae210140c5b1/clips/03e92bfc-1681-47ec-be90-b4ba00638705/transcript

Meghan heads to her favorite gym for a full roundtable with the trainers of DOGPOUND — the "exclusive performance members club" beloved by everyone from A-list actors to marathoners. The NYC Team kick things off talking about what actually separates DOGPOUND from every other gym (hint: it's the people, not the equipment), while the LA Team each share their own winding paths into fitness. From Whole Foods cashier to certified trainer, from construction work in Illinois to training celebrities within a few years. They get into what it really takes to work with high-profile clientele without making them feel weird, how they track everything from BMI to body fat with next-level tech, and why the gym's rotation system builds a genuine community instead of the usual gym-bro energy. Plus: the real advice from DOGPOUND's Owner, for anyone trying to break into fitness training, and a peek into the bigger vision to expand that rare Dogpound energy beyond just NYC and LA.
