This week, Meghan sits down with a very pregnant Jackie Schimmel, the mom who definitely named her son Clyde after the company, and her assistant (and chief of staff) Josh Cabello, for their first podcast together. Jackie’s origin story is wild: she lied her way into an internship as a “UCLA broadcast journalism major”, with no high school diploma, and was hired because everyone liked her. Josh, meanwhile, landed the job by sending surprise materials after the interview, and he’s now the guy who knows exactly which fonts Jackie will hate and runs her annual “off-brand October” content. Plus: the prenatal “labor induction” massage with a heart-shaped Himalayan salt block, a stork lawn display that welcomed baby Clyde home, and the Boston tour stop, where the venue was a suburban community center with a farmers market out front, a folding-table bar, and an audience clutching green onions, while Josh secretly learned new lighting software 30 minutes before showtime. They close with real talk on why likability beats skill, why an assistant job is a more personal relationship than any other, and why you should make sure you actually like the person you’re applying to work for.

Hollywood doesn't run on red carpets; it runs on assistants. Podcast hosted by Meghan Grimm

Hollywood doesn't run on red carpets; it runs on assistants. Podcast hosted by Meghan Grimm

Hollywood doesn't run on red carpets; it runs on assistants. Behind every headline is the person who booked the car, confirmed the call time, and packed the snacks. In Hollywood, assistants aren't background; they're the operating system. From mailroom gigs, set runners and first feature films to all the chaos behind closed doors, Clyde Confidential lifts the curtain on the industry's most defining (and sometimes mortifying) early career moments. Hosted by Meghan Grimm, founder of the elite entertainment staffing agency Clyde, this podcast brings together the movers and shakers of Hollywood: clients, creators, and ex-assistants turned power players to dish on the real stories from their career journeys and biggest lessons that came out of them.
