But they're amazing how the game grown up from like like even from when I played, like to see the money going up even more. Like we had a moment the other day. I was talking about Max Christy getting eight million, and at a time when I got like that, it was like, damn, eight million was good, But now like eight million is like the bottom.
That's that's like the bottom of the total. But to see it grow, yeah, well, you know, the these TV deals that's where the money come at. Now they got to pay these motherfuckers from the TV deals, so I mean, and they get a bigger deal getting ready to come down. So served find to get absurd. So I mean, I mean, the TV deals is crazy, man, So that's why they're getting these guys, these young guys getting this money. But I ain't mad at him because Doctor J came in before me, and and I'm sure Doctor Jay was like, damn, how Max was making more of motherfucking money I made, you know what I mean, Doctor J. I wasn't my Jordan's you know, God, you know I love Michael Jordans, but you know what he'd done and competitive and we competed against each other. But doctor J was my guy. And I'm like saying, damn, Doctor J probably saying the same damn thing I'm saying right now about these young guys. Damn these young guys. I'll bust these motherfuckers, you know what I mean? And what it's the TV deals and I get it, and I understand where it's coming from. So and I'm I'm happy for it. So, shit, I got a son, I got two sons coming up. Shit. I hope one of the motherfuckers get some of this motherfucker bag or what they call it, a bag of bread whatever the they call it, like chicken man.
And it's crazy, Like you're talking about how he was playing games involved, Now what's interesting you talk about TV deals and like, I think, I hope it doesn't come to an end, but it's kind of what it's looking like your teammate Kenny Smith, like, for what they did, I think that more people need to pay attention to how inside the NBA helped perpetuate that. I know that's not the only thing about that, but the wait that they covered the game, especially today's my era with social media, they helped project a lot of people to have their own brands or own rebuttals to do stuff like this. How was that to see him go from your teammates to see what he's doing.

And then the rockets fucked over me too, and they bought Clyde in and they didn't even through my whole suspension, the whole ten games. The motherfuckers never did call me. After I had bought two championships, I mean one champion of first championship, and that motherfucker when they would never won without me, because goddamn in game three, god damn it, when we went out the uh Phoenix ship, we was down two ship and goddamn if Max don't go out there and do what I did. I had third in the second half. Damn will I turned that whole motherfucker serious around for f H town, you know what I mean, And we won that. God damn. So the white folks changed my name from Vernon. Then they started calling me mad Max and so so I told my mom, I said, Ship, that's the reason why the motherfuckers changed my name. So the motherfuckers changed my name from Burning to math Max because all the antics and ship is a dope name. Though.

I went up to visit them, and ship, man, they flew they playing down the games. I'm from Gainesville, Florida. I'm a coutry for like I said, I'm a country ass, bunking ass nigga. I had never ever been nowhere, and the motherfuckers flew their playing down there to get me some games, and my mom told me for I went up to say, nigga, my mom talked to me like she was like my daddy. She said, she's I really don't know my dad, so I don't have a dad, so she was like my dad. So she was like, hey, nigga, let me tell you something. You better not sign a motherfucking piece of paper. I said, because you know, we had Florida University of Florida. I'm in the backyard of the University of Florida. I live a mile away from the University of Florida. So she know, these white folks already told niggas, we're getting ready to pay you. So nigga, don't you fuck my money up. My mom said, nigga, don't go fuck my money up, nigga. It was it was like a double edged sword, like I couldn't leave, and I needed to leave, you know, I needed to lead to get away from that, you know what I mean. But I've decided to stay in that ship and that infested the ass pond. Like I keep saying, Yeah, Gainesville Florida, and and I got caught up and I went to Florida. All time leaders scored at the University of Florid today talking motherfuckers don't stay in school long enough to do what I did. You know, Yes, first back in the day when I came, when I came out, you know your ass do four years, you know, and that shit wasn't heard of one and done that. It was like two motherfuckers. I saw that. I mean, like Darryl Dawkins and these other motherfuckers had done that. I mean, so we never really heard about one and uns like going to costs for one year and and then I mean get a bag. So I did four years. That's how I became the all time leading scorer at the University of Florida, you know what I mean. I got twenty eight sixty, you know, and the second time, my all time leading scored in SEC history behind Pistol p yeah still today. So but yeah, well it was I mean I had to I had to stay there because I had never been nowhere. I went. They flew me, they brought that goddamn plane down that goddamn Gainesville and they flew me over to Raleigh, North Carolina. Man, that's the longest fucking flight I ever heard. That shit wasn't done for an hour. And my ass had never been on a plane or nothing. That ship was the longest fucking flight. I said, Oh shit, these white folks say, I ain't never been this far away from my house. Now I can't.

I was like nervous. So and then I got off the plane. They showed me Valvana. God bless you, Jimmy, Jimmy Valvana. He showed me a great time. And that's probably where I should have went to. But I mean I still did good. What a way I went to. But I'm just saying, but Viole Vanna was a great visit, and I mean, man, it was just it was a blessing, man. I mean just just staying in Florida. Man. I had to stay there, man, because I mean shit, my mom was gonna let me leave because I was a mama's boy.
Yeah, And that's the interest you say that, like you said, like double ed shorter situation like me staying changes a lot for your family instantly, no matter what happened to the rest of it. I know my family good if I make this move. But also you probably need a little bit of space to cand developing your own, to get away from people.

You wanted to kind of stay home, but you was like that could have been detrimental to being home.

Yeah, if I was too close to home, I would have been with the guys, you know what I mean. So I don't know if I would have made it to the NBA because my focus might not have been the same. But getting away from home and going to Wake Force, being eight hours away, ain't had no choice but to like lock in and focus for sure.

Like I said, Man, I was on cocaine in marijuana, and I was an alcoholic man and so and I'm still scored twenty eight sixty, you know what I mean. And so I don't even know half of the days. And shit, I don't remember half of the day you sit down to college, you know what I mean? Because I was so fucked up, you know what I mean a lot of times I go to practice, and shit, I just sit there and college and shit. I'd be like, shit, fuck that, I ain't practicing day. Shit you want me to day or you can get me in game day tomorrow. Shit he said, I'll get you tomorrow to sit there there, you sit there. So that's what I used to do. So, I mean I used to be I used to be hung over that cocaine because cocaine make a step all night, man, and got them cocaine buggets and shit, you be digging all day. And I mean just see, it's a lot of shit you deal with, man. But I mean, unfortunately, I really don't know how I made it because two weeks before the drift, we was out there and Combine in Orlando working out and ship. You know, we ain't have it wasn't cell phones back then. It was like newspaper. You get up in the morning and you go out there at the Combine where we was at. We open the door. We get to USA today. See where you read USA today? We read the USA today. And then I went to get to the USA today. It was like ten days before the drift and I was getting I get to the USA today. I pick up the goddamn paper. I don't fuck all that damn political ship I go straight to the sports and I can flip to the sports. I'm looking at my goddamn face on the fucking on the fucking you and on the on the front of the forest on the sports page. I'm like, what the fuck is sad? Would I do?

Unfortunately, God bless him, my college coach done leaked out that I was. I was supposed to be top ten gord. I was supposed to be top ten lottery pick. Yeah. But my my college coach, he leaked out that, you know, and he said to me, and he told it to my mom that if it's up to him, I wasn't gonna make it. Yeah, That's that's what he told me. When I was a senior. After I told this motherfuckers, I was gonna I should have left my junior year. But I stayed because my mom was like, get your degree, nigga, and you know where you can have something to fall back on in case this ship don't work out for you, nigga. And so I was like, all right, man, I don't really want to do this ship. I don't really want to fuck with this boy, this white boy, this coach, you know, because we we didn't get along. I mean, but he couldn't stop me from being on the floor because I'm from Gainesville, Florida, all alumnis, you know what I mean. They got my back. They're gonna get rid of that coach before they get rid of me, you know, because I you know, you flunk three drug tests at the University of Florida when I was there, and you kicked out the school. Shit. I forunk a fucking hundred of them my freshman year, damn, you know what I mean. So that's how they put a bandage on this ship for me, you know what I mean. So, but I'm just saying, man, I mean, it's.

I went from top ten to forty eighth pick, and I had to make a fucking team. I got drafted by Denver forty eight, supposed to have been sh top ten, and they traded me the night that same night when I got drafted San Antonio Spurs and yeah, so and I went there and I went there. Shit, then I went there. I had a nigga way way crazy than me, you know. Alvon Robinson a quadruple double nigga. You know ten rebound, ten assists, ten steals, you know, ten punts. You know, this nigga was crazy. He's I mean, he was an all star guy, so I mean, and this dude was physical. It's I knew I had to I had to get my I had to get myself, you know, build my body up because I was, you know, looking at me. Shit, I don't went number one hundred and eighty two pounds, so I mean, but back then, my heavenest weight I ever wore my whole life was one hundred and ninety five pounds. When I played in the NBA, I said, heavens I ever been. Everybody I played against was six six six seven, I mean two hundred and eighteen, two hundred and five. I'm one ninety fucking you know. I mean, I'm a little ass guy, man. But I just my heart took me over through all that shit. Man. I mean, I played with heart, and you know, Jeffery passion and I don't give a fuck about a nigga and another another color jersey. You know, it's cut the oat nigga show.

I love all my teammates, Rock, we got you got the motherfucker going though. Whoever he was, he got the motherfucker going. And they put me back in that motherfer trying to cut off the water. Boy, I couldn't do it. But that's the that's the worst cover in the world. Drips on petroviitch Man, I'm trying to tell y'all, man, y'all just pay homage to this motherfucker. Man. This motherfucker was a killer man. You know.
It's funny they, I mean, maybe not on the same level, but they kind of compare him with the same going crazy like Luca.
