David Munday from the Freemantle docors with an enormous smile when we've got nine wins at this time of the year, that's what you're doing.
Fuddy are now fired from celebrit Prentice mates Will and Woody.
Yeah, and how did you give yourself a black eye?
So Kate Bush's running up that hill isn't the only thing that Stranger Things is bringing back.
It looks like there's.
A bit of a Dungeons and Dragons resurgence, although there are many that will tell you it's never gone away. Season four has once again entrenched itself in the fantasy world of D and D. In the decades since Stranger Things are set, long one of the days of exclusive groups of kids playing in their you know, you know some garage. The show depicts the current generation of D and D campaigners are everyone and anyone.
They're amongst us.
And they're keen to see the floodgates open to new and curious crowds. Dungeons and Dragons was, of course, first published in the seventies as a tabletop fantasy game out of a box, not a console, that could be played as a one shot singular session or expanded out, and this is where.
It really took off.
Expanded out into regular campaigns to conquer challenges and adventures in an open world with mythical creatures driven by the player's imagination. I thought video games had long killed Dungeons and Dragons, but evidently not, Clozy.
Did you ever venture into the D and D world?
I never got into the it's how ced than it is. I never got to the D thea where there were some of GREENWD High School who were into it, and we went ah that group.
I went to a school and I didn't know anybody play Dungeons and Dragons.
No one, not that they were running up to it.
But look, if you're interested, those in the know recommend new players immerse themselves into the D and D ecosystem, alike Australian comedy podcast Dragon Friends. Oh, I didn't even know there was a current podcast, Drag and Friends. Or for a more law centric introduction, the YouTube channel and expanding franchise Critical Role they say, don't go in with too many preconceptions. The game responds to what you put into it. And for anyone who might not have friends interested in playing, the experts say it's worth going to a local board game store to see if they run campaigns and have a table for you to join.
There you go.
Now, I'm never going to be able to walk into a games shop again without wondering what's going out going on in the back round.
Yeah, what he's going on in their own dungeon is going.
On out there, there's sure.

Matthew McConaughey has visited the White House where he made an emotional plea for lawmakers to do something about gun control, like, for.
Once and for all, do something.
Mcconne's actually from Uvaldi, Texas, the site of the most recent horrendous school shooting two weeks ago.
You know what, every one of these parents wanted, what they asked us for. But every parents separately expressed in their own way to kamilent me.
That they want their.
Children's dreams to live on, That they want their children's dream to continue to accomplish something after they are gone.
They want to make their loss of life matter. But we hear we heard from so many people, right, families of the deceased, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, Texas rangers, hunters, border patrol and responsible gun owners who won't give up their Second Amendment right to bear arms.
And you know what they all said, we want secure and safe.
Schools, and we want gun laws that won't make it so easy for the bad guys to get these damn guns.
It's the one thing I just don't understand about America.
Who is luck in charge? Who is going to.
Finally make a decision and sign it off and say this has got to stop. I mean, if the president can't.
Every time this comes.
Up, and you know, we have the same discussions after the shooting until it just sort of goes away again all the next shooting.
It was like the National Rifle Association of Control.
It is they do they seem to. It's horrible.
Relations between former glamour couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have hit a new low, with the heart throb accusing his ex of trying to damage him by secretly selling her steak in his French vineyard to a Russian oligarch Jolie sold her half of the booming Chateau Miraval Winery to a company run by Yuri Scheffler, who owns the firm that produces flagship Russian vodka Stalitnya Stolly. Legal documents obtained by The Daily Mail make reference to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and claim the Stoly brand is now a massive international liability. They add that after Scheffler's desperate at to disassociate himself from the Putin regime, Stlitch now has been.
The subject of boycotts throughout the world.
At my local bottle shop took Stolly off the shelf and then put it back because it's actually manufactured in Latvia.
Okay, don't ask me how I know this. I'm just yeah, you know, observant.
Yeah, someone told you. Yeah, More more Lisa.
More podcast soon ninety.
Ninety six AM's own Fremantle Docker David.
Monday moning, David, good morning, are you well? Why wouldn't you be.
Having a fantastic, fantastic, fantastic year?
Thank you.
It's been a fairly handy couple of weeks, so yeah, we'll certainly take it and run.
Who would have thought losing the Pies game and also the Gold Coast and then beating the top two. Yeah, funny how footy works out in it.
Yeah, it is.
I think going into that four game stretch you have said, come out too too.
It's pretty handy.
Yeah, it's just the opposite two that we got and two that we missed. But yeah, it shows how quickly things in football, I guess can turn around. And if you're able to kind of stick to your basics and execute well enough, you know, things can go really well.
Was the crowd must have lost their minds?
Yeah, forty seven thousand.
It was our highest ticketed game outside of a derby, so it was pretty insane.
Yeah, very very noisy, very loud, and very obvious to the playing group.
Yeah. Good, well that's good.
That's what you want. Yeah. I was saying to at least that when Michael Frederick gets near the ball, it reminds me of the whiz when Jeff Farmer, you know that sound and when the anticipation of the excite. But you can pretty much do anything.
Yeah, absolutely, And when we're playing well, we get him the ball in space and he's so quick and skillful. He just makes things happen so he's building into a very nice player.
The doc is now famed defense.
Is The win was ultimately testament to the dock is now famed defense, which held up under significant pressure against the highest scoring team in the competition.
Yeah, something we didn't do very well was deny Brisbane Ford entries very well. Something we've been good at all year is getting the ball in our forward half and locking it away and being up with either crowd of stoppage or turn the ball over before they get into their forward half.
Something.
As I said, we didn't do very well on the weekend and as a result our back six had a fair bit of work to do. There was quite a few inside fifties and a couple of really dangerous ones, particularly early. Brandon Walker sprinting back to goal with one on one with Charlie Cameron in open ford fifty and the balls being lobbed in in front of him did an amazing job a few times. So it's nice to know that when they're tested and put under the pump a bit, they can really stand up.
They've spent a lot of time together.
There's probably been our most stable line over the last kind of ten months, so it's good to see some reward.
Yeah, Dave, there are a lot of stats in footing, but I'd love to see the stat of how many times Luke Ryan's finished a game with a torn jumper. He likes a scrap, doesn't he.
Yeah, we actually joked about it yesterday. He probably likes tearing himself.
Does he worked for man par in his spare.
Time chest out Yeah?
Credible.
Yeah, Well, he's always in those little scraps and bface, isn't he. He really loves standing up for his mates and that's how he gets his sprint daughter up, getting over to those contests.
He's an absolute treasure.
We're getting to the stage now where people are talking about, you know, serious brownlow hopes. And Andrew Brayshaw's name has certainly been thrown into the mix.
Yeah, and has been had an incredible year so far. He's doing everything. He's not just getting the ball, but he's making tackles. He's getting into the fifty, helping out, creating blocks, he's running hard to defend an attack. He's he's a very complete player and he's still building his career and building his legacy. So very bright things ahead for Andrew.
You've see hi in the last five minutes, he's absolutely naked. He's doing all that gup running, isn't he.
Yeah, he does everything with a lot of energy.
So by the end of the game he's completely empty himself out. And that's every week. It's not just because he's had a stack of the ball on the weekends. He's does that every week.
Lockie Neil was back. We called it home. He's from South Austraia originally. Do you have a little scuffle then? Did you give him a littleccident a little tap on the on the head he's running after it once?
Yeah, what is he hill?
He's a little bit smaller than.
You know.
There's a bit of argy budgie there. But yeah, so white line fever with us also.
Good funds at the end of the game.
Yeah, absolutely, Now Clary, you just asked what they put in Bailey Banfield's Marlow.
He kicked a career best four goals.
He's been in and out of the team this season, so it not only shows the depth in the team but an upcoming.
Selection headache when Twitter.
Becomes available again and also Walters.
Yeah, it's a really healthy position obviously to be in. Obviously to try and bring all these guys back and a few others and have a team that's performing so well like we have over the last two weeks. Is really healthy guys like Bailey who are on the edge of selection all the time. We spoke about it after the game, having that irrational confidence in himself and he certainly does a lot of things very well, Bailey, and we saw that, particularly in the second half on the weekend in his fiftieth game.
It was a real testament to the work that he puts in.
Yeah, at least when I had to chat with you over about six weeks ago and we talked about and there was you know, people taking Freemantle seriously as a real finals chance, and we set up you have to beat Melbourne and maybe Brisbane to you know, to get taken seriously, and you went, well, that'd be nice. Yeah, it must be nice.
Right now it is the very nice yeah, And I think it just kind of gives us the reward and belief in what we're trying to do.
The last two weeks hasn't been perfect.
Football hasn't all gone our way, but we've been able to play our way against really good teams for the majority of games and got the result. So yeah, it just feeds into that belief system and what we're trying to do is the right way and we've got the right people involved.
And that's just gains more and more momentum. I guess as you go along.
Sitting equal third on the ladder, Mate, that was important to get up there equal with Brisille on points because there's a big sort of blockage on the ladder below it. You guys.
Yeah, there's obviously quite a few teams who are kind of vying for the top eight, top four at the moment.
So yeah, we've got a one week at a time, but we hope to keep winning.
I'd like to finish second.
I mean like to finish first, but is it better to finish second than third in terms of chances and things at the end, I'll take either.
Yeah, with where we've been over the last few years, so it's your same.
High on track.
You take on Hawthorne now at Optus for the second week in a row. That's nice staying home for two games and then you have a buy at home, so it's.
Like a real midyear at home fest. Bounced down is at two ten.
Hawthorne not having their best year, but you'd never know what's happening with Hawthorne.
Yeah, they've been they've actually improved quite a lot this year Hawthorne. They've Sam Mitchell's come in and they're playing very very differently and they're able to scrap away and score really heavily when they get the ball in their four half. So it's going to be a really interesting challenge for us, I think, given come off the back of two really good wins and see where the group's mindsets at and might be a bit wet over the weekend.
So that's something that this year we haven't handled very well.
Yeah, So yeah, I think there are multiple challenges which will make this weekend quite challenging.
Is there a danger in itself of when you come off such two such incredible wins that that you know, that's the danger zone, that's where you've got to really stay focused.
Yeah, And that's the hardest part I think of any elite sport is that mental agent staying on all the time, regardless of who you're playing, all the perceptions of who you're playing. So yeah, that's something that as a group we're kind of working through and building building away through it. Something we're learning on the job about so hopefully we can implement some of our learnings from either in the year and play well.
Dave, You're starting to find some similarities to that. It's hard to compare rs, but that's sort of twenty twelve to fifteen time, you know, in the Matthew Pavletch time at the club and Luke McFarland and the like, you're starting to feel some kind of it's a very different personnel, but some kind of similar vibe of success there.
Yes and no, it's hard to compare a very different systems, very different environment.
It was ross line as well.
Yeah, but one thing that is similar is that it can sneak up in you really quickly. I don't think anyone would have predicted us to be nine to three going into our last round before the buy this year. And as I said before, like positive reinforcement and belief, building belief through performances you can do wonderful things. So we've been able to bank some really good performances earlier in the year and that's kind of created a bit of belief and everyone's buying in playing their role really well.
And I don't think it's necessarily.
Our top four or five guys who are really driving our team for it. I think it's our entire twenty three that represent the female rockers on the weekend, which has been our greatest strength this week this year.
This group a lot younger than that, not back then, and.
They are Yeah, so no pressure.
But do you know that Grand Final flights have surged from Perth, from Perth to Victoria have just had a real big lift.
Yeah, I actually did read that.
It could be a coincidence.
Maybe all those people just want to go for that, you know, one weekend, some deals on it.
But now I did read that article. But hopefully that time of year, the AFL will sort me out.
So I didn't mean you were going to miss out.
Not that kind of pressures.
Over in Cattle or Cramda. And we mentioned Freddie mentioned Michael Frederick. You got himself into a little bit of stop. But we hear he's he's very remorseful.
He is.
Yeah, he's a young man. He made a mistake and he's okay. That doesn't have a mark against his name or anything like that. He would just serve his time and come back in to the group. And yeah, as I said before, he's got a very bright future, so looking forward to that.
So he's had a good game, but he's had a drink after the game. Yeah, fundament yep.
So just broke some team rules which are pretty clear.
And just one final little matter. It has been confirmed that five is back this week. Yeah, everyone'll be pretty excited about that.
Yeah, and that.
Himself.
Yeah, yeah, he he played really well I think in that Peel game, watching him a bit scratch early and bashed his way through it a bit, but he really found his touch I think, and got some big hits and was tagged by Harry Marsh who's a big man himself and subiaco. So yeah, he tested himself out physically and pulled through.
Preciated it's here too, coming back so that everyone can properly enjoy it.
Yeah, I think so.
Yeah, Yeah, I think we're all very excited to seeing Matt five back on the footy field.
In that first quarter wasn't Yeah, yeah you can't.
You can run all you like, but games are very different. Yeah, it's a training absolutely good to catch.
Thank you guys all the best, good luck this weekend, Doctor Dave. Monday ninety six f m so.
Adam Sandler has been on the on Good Morning America GMA this week to discuss his new film, which is called Hustle. It's a basketball focus movie. Sporting a large black eye, which didn't come from a basketball to the face, he revealed that he had a mobile phone mishap in bed.
Now.
He says, I was in bed middle of the night and somebody had tucked the sheets in too tight. I'm not sure who's tucking a fifty five year old man into bed, but it's his story. He says, I had my phone in the middle of the bed. You're not much to do that either. I kick my feet up, untuck it. The phone went flying, hit me in the head.
He won't be alone.
It's a likely story. So the most elaborate black eye excuse I've ever heard.
People have dropped your phone, you mobile on your face while looking at it lying down.
No, I haven't damn iPad or my face. That really smart?
Does hurt?
He does?
It's smart and you're lucky not to lose a tooth. Yes, but look, we want to ask, how did you give yourself a black eye?
Are you buying that?
By the way, Adam's story story, I'm wondering who is tucking him in the kids.
Was anyone else you wouldn't but it's Adam sad.
You might have gotten a scrap at a comedy club. Will Smith, he Will Smith didn't like his jake. I got a Facebook friend Morning Janet, who sadly does she tripped at the end of her bed. Yeah, hating me telling you this. Yeah, and she has two black eyes, so she's looking rather panderish at this point in time.
Well, at least that's cute. Yeah, yeah, one so much.
No, it just looks like I've been in down.
The pub Kirsten in Mayland? Hello, Hello, what did you do?
I was sitting down and I was trying to get a really tight pair.
Of Doc Martin's boots off.
I was pulling so hard that when it came off, my knee riccheted back and hit me in the eye.
Sight.
Ah, you go yourself within knee. You're gonna say it gorself with the boot because that's a solid boot.
Yeah.
No, the knee came up and hit me in there.
Okay, not enough people say the word ricochet. That's unreal. How embarrassing.
So you need yourself in the eye while you're trying to get off boots? Yes, I can understand that boots can be hard. Sometimes you needed a helper, you know, yeah, boots or type jeans, No worry.
Thanks Georgie and Pinjarra.
How did you give yourself a black eye?
It was the start of a girl the night and we had already had a couple of the bridges, so we were pretty merry, and I was opening a bottle of champagne. Momentary lapse of judgment and as I turned back, the cork released before my knowledge and hit me in the eye.
That did come up.
Black pretty quick. Surprisingly, it didn't take long, which means by the end of the night it was already starting the sport of shiner. By the next day it was pretty black.
Cork injury. You can't take your hand off the cork.
It will surprise.
Hey, Georgie, did your flush? Did it hit your partly on the eyeball or was it just the surround because it's dangerous.
It felt like it did half and half if that makes sense.
Because it just fits perfectly into the eye socket, really doesn't it.
Who Thank you, Georgie, and.
I don't know how you gave yourself a black eye, Leslie and Mandarin.
I was waiting a selfball training for the coach, and we were just mucking about, Yes, and we're putting now the baseball bat on our foots and throwing it in the air and trying to catch it again on our foot turn come down likely in the eye, broke my cheekbone.
Oh no, that's a clever trick.
What yeah, I can do stuff like that.
What did everyone around you do? And say, Leslie, And some people do uncomfortable giggles. Yeah, weird you'self? People have a giggle yeah, And my.
And my sister said, yeah, that's a.
Thank you, Leslie.
Leslie, Okay, that's a lot worse than a black eye.
That's horrible, isn't it. Facebook Lion ge.
Greg and his fick park How did you give yourself a black eye?
I gave himself a black eye. I came home from work well up and north on the mind side, rushing up to the bar, and I hit the phone in my hands and I've been attacked by heap for fly. So I whipped my hand up, yes, and clean ye right in the eyeball.
All of a sudden, ye ever hit the flies? Laugh too, You weren't worried about the flies anymore.
The old fly in dream was easy to do.
I didn't think it was that easy, but yes it was.
It really is.
When people saw you shiner, did you make up a story that was better than that?
Oh?
No, I couldn't get away from Tom up to the wedding. I was chasing flies away from my face.
Thank you didn't explain that you go back up on the mind side.
Oh yeah, that's right, handy. Story time for one more?
Call rodin Bumbrie. Hello, how did you give yourself the black eye?
Two years back? Playing golf? I don't remember a lot of just hit, booming, drive down when into the trees, played the second shot that I could make a green wake up in the back of an ambulance.
Oh okay, what happened?
So apparently the balls going ninety five percent air that hit the tree just collected me flushed, and I went down like one of Mike Tyson's victims on the rebound. On the rebound.
Yes, see this this concerns me because I'm actually currently thinking of taking up colf. Don't put it that it's that whole sort of ricochet off a tree back into ricochet rabbit that I'm scared of.
But I remember the really good drive. That's all the matters.
Yeah, you driver?
Did you yell exactly?
Did you yell?
Four?
And it was a good drivers talk?
You're four.
One more Lisa, more podcasts soon ninety six.
You're fired. The words been heard by ninety six of m's Will and Woody from the celebrity Prentice Australia, which continues seven pm Sunday night. But the boys join us. Now, well I'm what a good morning lads?
Well, well, well how are you too?
Mate?
We are good, We are so good, well other than getting the ass, yeah, we're pretty good.
Can I first of all say, Will, congratulations and I'm absolutely honored that you've named your baby after me.
Hey, you know my middle name is Max.
You did at all?
Well, there you go. That's so excited for you.
Yeah, it's brilliant and you know it's good to know that. You know, we just bought a soundproof box that I've just chucked her into this interview which to keep her alive next to me.
Hes does not stop there, mister.
Woody, Woody, what's going on? Maybe doing a copy cap?
Yeah, that's it, that's it. I thought, you know, if we're going to be having a baby, the best way to stay close to him is to also have a baby. Well, congratulations and I'll obviously be borrowing will soundproof cage.
Yeah, in a couple of months.
Room for two in there.
Mate.
My middle name is Anthony. Mate, So have you have a boy?
Perfect?
No worry, mate, I'll write it down.
Let's talk about celebrity apprentice. It's been great fun watching you. I was most disappointed when you got the finger and that you're fired the other night, you know, I mean, Lord Sugar does point now you you practically volunteered yourselves to leave the competition.
But what is going on with Ronnie?
M M A bit of a.
I'm happy to I think like in all honesty, like it wasn't really anything personal towards Ronnie and Lord Sugar sort of said to us on the way out, Hey, you know, thanks for being so chivalrous, but it didn't really. I think the word chivalry probably does is too good of a job. Like I think anyone in that situation where you see, like Teria became a really good friend of ours and I just have nothing but respect for her, And I don't know, I kind of felt like if anybody sees a friend of theirs, you know, getting bullied in the way that she was, and I really think she was like she she was highly accountable, highly infers every single past and it was so respectable. And then to see to have Ronnie on one side belittling and then even like that little remark that you know Sugar had as well, like, you know, how do I solve a problem like Tourea, which is sort of almost like inciting the fact that she is a problem, which I think just really ground up against us. And at the end of the day, we just couldn't really sit there and continue to listen to that.
And I think, I think, to be frank, we should have been fired a long time ago. If you go through what we offered to the calves. We sweat each other in gold g strings during a fashion show, which effectively ruined that we brought Channon Nol We brought absolutely nothing, and then in every other challenge we just didn't really do anything.
Well. I have.
To say that, knowing you as I do, I expected very big things from you with the children's book, and I was not disappointed.
But was it was it a.
Little bit too too much for the adults as much as for the children.
Do you think.
I think what's funny is that Will and I actually we stayed up to what three am the night before and we had like a huge white board up with themes and underlying storylines, et cetera. And I think after that we did realize that, yes, that's probably a little bit too much for a.
Three year old.
Probably, Yeah, yes, that's fair enough.
At the end of the day, were they all just a bunch of dead ships? You know, couldn't copy.
You're about to go.
Ment and you know, these kids were obviously just subcar on their parents. As far as I'm concerned.
What do you do? Boys? We've had some very interesting radio management over the years. What was it like being in the room with Lord Sugar? Was it a bit dauging?
Yes?
How was it?
I found him pretty intimidating. I don't think Will found him as intimidating as I found him. He actually has the most beautiful tan, which shocked me.
A gorgeous, gorgeous tan. But yeah, no, he's a pretty intimidating guy.
Yea, Like he loves the idea of bossing people around.
And really he.
Didn't take any ship like, yeah, something.
Out of line.
He'd come for it.
Well, I love his quite interesting. Yeah, yeah, sorry, I was just going to say on the tan front, we found out because the other thing is that he's a lot shorter than you think. And if you actually next time you watch Really Want from the Chocolate Factory, if it pause it about twenty five minutes in, he actually was an in Ballumba.
I'm sure.
Yeah, he doesn't like that getting out, but yeah he's there.
He's in there for those that watch the show as well. Every time, you know how he has that moment where he looks through the window before. Okay, so to get to that level on the window, he needs to stand on a little box everyone.
Yeah, money Penny gives him a leg up. That's good, guys.
The other thing you guys know is that he doesn't get and this is this is really great when you watch it again, he refuses to have an ear peace. So obviously, you guys done a lot of TV. You get the producer in you here the whole time telling you to rat move, don't do that. He removed it.
He's a lord. He can do what he likes.
He can do what he likes, and he's not baby Spicy's little sugar, all right, boys, so lovely.
To chat to you. We must go you can see what the.
Time is the best?
Yeah much, thank you?
Like that radio crash the boys are heading into I know my coup.
Believe that dad and Dad's real. That's fantastic.
Well, thank you very much. It's nice.
Nice to be here as well, and will not be here but to you where you are fair enough.
Yes, you are celebrating forty years in the music industry, which is it's no mean feat. Did you ever think when you got into it you'd still be going strong in twenty twenty two.
Well, I kind of, I hope so, because you know, when I was a kid watching Top of the Pops, I saw all my heroes and everything, and over the years have met all my heroes really, and I think the thing is, I mean, when I was younger, I used to say, oh, you know that Paul McCartney.
And that Mick Jagger, they should give it up. There are too old. And they were probably only about thirty five.
Yeah, and you know, been an angry young man and everything. And here I'm at sixty two, so sixty two is really young. It's incredibly young, and I'm still you know, my voice is as good as it ever was, if not better, I could do more things with it. And the anniversary tool was interesting because we did a musical sort of travelogue with me talking about things and we might bring that same show, I think to Australia because it.
Works so well.
What songs influenced me and obviously where we started, and we did all the hits, the True, the Gold, the Barricades to everything you want to hear.
It was a long show. It's about two hours, so it was along with the party and it was pretty heavy going.
But it was good fun sensation. I just want to you mentioned Top of the Pops there and when you guys did to cut a long story short. On Top of the Pops, the Queen had only been on the very first time. The queen had been on the throne for twenty nine years. It is bizarre to think about it, is it.
Don't don't.
That's horrible, that's cruel.
But that's my friend.
The thing is is that, I mean, nonebers feel any different. I mean I'm still you know, I'm still work out, still train, I'm singing, I'm writing new albums coming out, you know, new singles out, such as been out at the moment. So I'm still as enthusiastic now as I was when I was a twenty year old.
And to cut long.
Story short, I still get excited if if my new record has been getting loads of their player in the UK because of you, and every time it comes on, I get very very excited.
Good and so nothing.
I think if you if you like music, then what else am I going to do? I wouldn't be a heating engineer.
Put it that way, Boiler.
You were actually part of the plateau Dubes as they were calling it was double decker bus representing the glorious eighties.
Who else was on your bus?
We had leave John from Imagination, my great mate Gary Davis, a very well known radio to DJ Duncan Good Jew the swimmer, Sharon Davis, the Olympian who we had Pete Waterman stock Aching, very famous for all the hits, obviously Kylie and Jason.
Who else?
Who else is?
There was various actors, Olympians and it was really it was a momentous day. And of course Cliff Richard was on the fifties bus with Anisa Harris and it was great sit. I haven't seen Cliff for a while, so hopefully it's Hank still living in perfect he is.
He certainly is.
Yeah, if you're.
Listening, mate, you've got to come along. We saw you last time. It was great to see the family. And also my mate Danny O'shaye lives.
Over there there, example Player and him and his wife Clara family, so they'll all be coming. So we've got some great friends over there as well, which would be nice.
Yeah.
Mate, you've got the best fans in the world, haven't you. And I noticed how many messages I'll be watching your socials, how many messages and that you I know you're always to appreciate them on your birthday. But it's all year round, isn't it. It's a lot of love, it is.
Yeah, I mean it's nice.
I mean what's weird is that the fans that sort of screamed when they were fourteen fifteen and they're all grown up, married or divorced, children, and they.
All and they bring their kids along to the concerts.
And I think think because of things like Spotify, kids can access music, you know, just like that, And of course they go back and they listen to Spanda Jurano might be led Zeppelin or the Beatles or whatever, and so they're sort of Although I'm not, you know, totally enamored with the way music is going at the moment, I do think things like that really help young kids get into music and different generations.
I have been having a bit of a giggle the last couple of weeks because I've been a Kate Bush fan since the late seventies, and yet all of a sudden, I've got all these you know, my nieces and whatever saying.
Have you heard this running up that hill?
Because they've been watching Stranger Things and Kate's song has gone doesn't charting again, doesn't warm your heart to see the eighties music, you know, pleasing a whole new generation.
It's like the third generation now.
Well, I mean, I'm very thankful that people still want to come along and see me, and we do lots of festivals, and what's interesting about that is you do get quite low young kids there and they know words to true and the gold and barricades only when you leave and stuff like that.
But they've also got into the new songs as well. We always do.
A couple of new songs will be out probably next next spring. And I'm a great believer in you know, although I love the eighties, but I'm not a terribly nostalgic person, so I don't watch old videos of spaned Out, I don't put on the old span Out records. Every day is a new day, and I'm always looking forward to.
Make it a better album and just improving all the time.
Really, that's what keeps you young. Tell us I noticed Nick Rhodes is having your birthday today from Duran Duran and were you guys mates and great great chart rivals, but were your mate as well?
Oh yeah, I.
Mean we had many a party. I probably can't talk about it on radio, but the Duran boys are a great bunch of lads. I saw Simon just before Christmas. We were at Austin. Heally and Will Green would benefit do the rugby players in Ballastea And.
We haven't seen each other myself and Simon for few years.
And was like yeah mate, and we had a good old drinking so it was really nice.
It was lovely to see him.
On the weekend.
I just watched Danny Boyle's Pistol series about the sex Pistols. Have you ever thought about doing a you know, a series about that period with you and Duran? Duran and all the others in the eighties there in the early eighties.
Well, I'm not sure the outfits fit anyone. It's those tight leather pants there.
I mean, yeah, I mean, I.
Mean, do you know what if someone approached us on something like that.
I mean, the thing is is that, you know.
Spander did do a documentary twenty sob Boys of the Western World, and that sort of documented a.
Lot of that period.
Yeah, but if someone like you know, Frankie Boyle come along and said yeah, I'd probably go yeah right, Yeah, I'm I mean, I do look at the agies with great fondness because I think it was quite a defining decade.
I mean it was when you know, you got into us as well.
To cut along story short, Australia is one of the first countries abroad that got into spand out and I remember our first trip there.
In eighty four. Yeah, the Parade albums. It was Bonker's Mental Beatles, it was screaming girls all the way.
And of course, you know in those days, people didn't travel like they do.
Today, and so for five.
Young lads from from the angel Is, Lincs and to being in Australia when we were twenty four was just wow.
It was incredible. Yeah, yeah, absolutely incredible.
Remember seeing that gig at the entertainment said it was the loudest noise I've ever heard.
That was me.
It was in the crowd. I was in the crowd. We don't travel to get the gig. You talked about your boys being in good nick. I remember talking to Jim care a couple of years and his voices like, you were still in the same kind of condition and you can do something. Yeah, what's your sacred have you kept? Christine? Sleep yep?
Right when you're on the road. I mean I've just.
Been, you know, when we're on the road, and generally speaking, especially for the dates we've just done, I'm in a sleeper bus, so I'm kind of sleeping nine ten hours and even if I go at two or three o'clock in the morning, I'll sleep nine or ten hours. And as long as I sleep, then I'm absolutely fine. That's that's the I mean. They sort of asked Pavarotti that once. They said, you know, Master, what is the secret, and he said, just sleep. You're just going to rest your voice.
Absolutely.
I mean, I'm lucky that I haven't dropped any of the keys could still hit all the notes and beyond. So I'm sort of sort of slightly blessed. And Jim's Gym's a good friend of mine. Is a great guy and great singer too.
Before we go, you're wearing a college shirt today, but what was the last band or artist T shirt you wore?
Wow? I don't really, I don't really do T shirts. I'm just there's loads what if you get. I'm not a T shirt I'm a shirt man, not a T shirt man. But there are lots of lots of great bands around.
I mean, I'm really I mean the champion for a long time, Sam Fender, who I think is are great young answers. I don't know if he's touching base in Australia, but he's absolutely fantastic. Sam Fender, Banners, Foles, There's loads of good stuff out there.
Really is well, Tony Hadley. We cannot wait to see you in September at the Asta Theater.
Thank you so much for joining us this morning.
Thanks well, thank you for having me and be looking. I can't wait to get over there.
Always always enjoy ourselves over and I would be brilliant, excellent.
