Caring for Kids Radiothon 2023

Today was the 20th edition of the annual Caring for Kids Radiothon. CJAD 800 along with sister stations CHOM 97 7, 95.9 Virgin Radio and TSN 690 joined together to share stories of families and their kids in an effort to raise money for the the Montreal Children's Hospital.

A 14 year old girl named Francesca lives with a rare condition. It’s called Pallister Killian Syndrome causing weak muscle tone in infancy and early childhood, amongst other things.

Alessandro was just 2 years old when he fell off the couch. His parents, Stephanie and Salvatore, brought him to a hospital ER where doctors said they had a concussion and sent him home. But Stephanie KNEW something wasn’t right.    She brought him to the Montreal Children’s Hospital, and doctors confirmed that Alessandro had a traumatic brain injury. He needed emergency surgery to drain the fluid from his brain. Stephanie was also induced with her second baby just days later.

RITA, 9 years old, born severely ill with Pfeiffer Syndrome, a rare genetic disease + PARENTS - SHAI AND BRIGITTE

Rita was born severely ill. She was so sick, in fact, that she spent the first three and a half years of her life at the Montreal Children’s hospital. Now 9 years old, she has had the most complex care needs the Children’s has ever treated. She has Pfeiffer Syndrome, a rare genetic disease that caused certain bones in her skull to fuse early in her development.
