Richard Chew is joined by Kristen Crowell, executive director of Families Over Billionaires (formerly Fair Share America).

Crowell talked about her July bus tour, which aimed to assess the impact of the Republican One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a law passed a year ago. 

"The collective agony, misery, anger that is prevalent everywhere we went is profound," Crowell told WCPT." And I've used this word before, but there's not a better word; it is haunting how this bill is impacting real people, real families, children."

Crowell highlighted the disproportionate burden on low-income families, veterans, and seniors due to cuts in Medicaid, ACA, and SNAP programs. She emphasized the need for bold, proactive solutions, including taxing the rich and corporations, to fund essential services. Crowell also discusses upcoming town halls in Atlanta and plans for post-midterm organizing.

Pilot, a member of the Ho Chunk Nation and chief editor of The Circle since May 2026, discussed his extensive background in native media and education. He highlighted his role in transforming The Circle from a newspaper to a quarterly magazine and increasing its online presence. Pilot emphasized the importance of educating white allies about Native American history and the significance of the Native American vote in changing elections. He also mentioned the positive feedback he recently received at the Minnesota State Fair.

"We did our show live," he told WCPT, "and the feedback that we get -- it's great to hear when you're out in community. And our white allies are with us. They just need to know what we're doing, and we educate everything from powwows to the American Indian movement [that] started here in the Twin Cities; it was an offshoot of the Black Panthers. . . . Especially with the surge that happened here, I just wanted to welcome all our white allies to the fight because we've been fighting for a long, long time."
