Richard Chew is joined by Anne Kim, executive director of the Common Sense Coalition and co-editor of its 2026 book "Betrayed: America Didn’t Vote for This"; she is also senior editor at Washington Monthly, where she recently wrote the piece "Will a Wave of 'Trump Regret' Lift Democratic Boats This Fall?" 

The discussion examined voter regret toward Trump, Democratic opportunities in upcoming elections, election-related legal threats, and the future of journalism.  Here is a summary of the conversation:

- Kim cited Navigator Research data showing that 18 percent of Trump voters regret their vote, up from 14 percent a year ago; regret was especially significant among independent men.
- Economic concerns—including prices, interest rates, Medicaid, SNAP, tariffs, and debt—have overtaken cultural issues for many voters.
- Voters who have turned away from Trump may stay home in November rather than automatically support Democrats. 
- Kim highlighted Barney Frank’s proposal to raise taxes on people earning over $300,000 to lower Medicare eligibility to age 60. (Her latest piece for Washington Monthly is "Barney Frank’s Last Harsh Warning to the Left.")
- Election-related litigation and procedural decisions may create confusion and doubt even when challenges fail on the merits.
