WCPT 820 Interview: Jake Tapper

View descriptionShare

Richard Chew is joined by Jake Tapper, CNN anchor, chief Washington correspondent, and the author of “Race Against Terror: Chasing an Al Qaeda Killer at the Dawn of the Forever War,” on sale 10/7. The book is a nonfiction thriller based on a true story about an Al Qaeda member captured by Italian authorities in 2011. It details U.S. efforts to build a case against him before he could escape.

In the conversation Tapper also expressed concern about the suppression of free speech, citing book bans and the Trump administration's recent efforts to get "Jimmy Kimmel Live" pulled from the air. He spoke as well about his previous book, "Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again" which faced bipartisan criticism but received positive reviews. Tapper, who co-authored "Original Sin" with Alex Thompson, said he's not against writing a similar book about Donald Trump, but right now doesn't see an opening for one. "For the Biden book, I saw a need and an opening and that's why we wrote it."
