Richard Chew is joined by Dr. Theresa Brooks, physician and 2026 candidate for Michigan State Senate.

Dr. Brooks discussed her campaign, emphasizing health care, education, affordability, energy costs, and voter turnout. Here are a few key points from the conversation:
- Brooks said the race is competitive and that door-to-door conversations have produced encouraging responses.
- She described support from some Republican voters who are dissatisfied with federal leadership, while others remain uncertain.
- Her approach is to listen, focus on kitchen-table issues, and connect voters’ concerns to concrete policy outcomes.
- Senate District 9 includes Troy, Rochester, Rochester Hills, part of Sterling Heights, Shelby Township, and Utica across Oakland and Macomb counties.
- Brooks identified health care access, public school funding, teacher support, affordability, population retention, and utility costs as priorities.
- She said Michigan has high utility costs without corresponding service quality and that she would remain independent of utility company funding.

With "Chew's Views" the emphasis is on positive talk and solutions – but don’t get it twisted; we may bring some smashmouth dialogue to the program just to make sure you’re awake, not just “woke.”

Richard Chew has been a part of the WCPT family since 2017, initially as part of "The Family Meeting" and as a regular contributor to "Joan Esposito: Live, Local and Progressive."  He became WCPT's morning host in early 2024.
