Richard Chew is joined by Christian Mitchell, former Illinois state representative (2013-2019), deputy governor in J.B. Pritzker's administration (2019- 2023), and 2026 candidate for lieutenant governor of Illinois (as Gov. Pritzker's running mate).

The interview focused on Mitchell’s candidacy, the stakes of the election, and his priorities for serving Illinois residents. Here are a few highlights from the conversation:
- Mitchell described concerns about federal cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and contrasted them with Illinois policies he said lower costs for working families.
- He urged broad voter participation and argued that the election would signal whether the state and country move in a different direction.
- Mitchell said he would work for all Illinoisans, including residents of counties that do not usually vote Democratic.
- He emphasized addressing jobs, artificial intelligence, climate change, health care costs, and wages while building a broader coalition.
- Mitchell highlighted empathy and direct engagement with residents, citing leaders’ attention to community concerns and constituent service.
