Richard Chew has been a part of the WCPT family since 2017, initially as part of "The Family Meeting" and as a regular contributor to "Joan Esposito: Live, Local and Progressive."  He became WCPT's morning host in early 2024. 

A 25-plus-year wealth management and insurance veteran, Richard is well-versed in all areas of financial planning, wealth management and insurance plans designed to help clients with their financial future. Richard’s primary goal is to help consumers assess what their needs are and find the right plans and programs to protect their wealth.

Richard was born and raised in Chicago and Southwestern Michigan and is a graduate of Pepperdine University; he later pursued a master’s degree from Keller Graduate School. He is proud of the fact that he has visited all 50 of the great states of the United States of America and keeps his passport current to make sure traveling the world is always a “ready to go” item. He and his wife, Anne, love the city and suburbs of Chicago and all their greatness.

Richard Chew is joined by Abre' Conner, Esq., director of Environmental and Climate Justice at the NAACP. The interview explored environmental justice concerns, federal regulatory rollbacks, and the NAACP’s lawsuit over unpermitted data center emissions.

- Abre said the administration is weakening science-based protections involving greenhouse gas emissions, vehicles, power plants, and the endangerment finding.
- She argued that reduced enforcement would disproportionately affect Black, rural, and other frontline communities.
- The NAACP alleges that xAI operated methane-gas turbines for data centers in Memphis and Southaven without Clean Air Act permits.
- The organization filed notices of intent to sue, then a complaint and motion for a preliminary injunction after operations continued in Southaven, Mississippi.
- The U.S. Department of Justice intervened in support of the polluter, citing national security.

Key quote: "When the U.S. Department of Justice will typically get involved in cases like this, they typically get involved on behalf of the people, on behalf of justice, on behalf of the communities who don't have, necessarily, the resources or the capability to fight back against these major corporations. But in a very rare move, we saw the Department of Justice show up and ask to intervene on behalf of a polluter, on behalf of one of the richest individuals in the world to say, actually, this pollution is necessary for a matter of national security, and also, not only should we be able to pollute for national security but also groups like the NAACP, they shouldn't be able to bring cases like this to you. Let us deal with the pollution as well."
