Long before sealed highways, GPS, or roadside cafés, two young Australians, Kathleen Howell and Jean Robertson set off on journeys most people would not attempt today. They crossed deserts without roads, raced trains across the Nullarbor, mapped parts of the country as they drove, and travelled halfway around the world by car to reach one of the most prestigious rallies on earth.
