A summer Indigenous youth employment program, in partnership with several community organizations, Songhees Nation, Esquimalt Nations and Oak Bay, involved Anderson Hill Park restoration efforts over the past two months. Throughout this, Elder knowledge has passed on to the young people via direct mentorship and support in what is called the “Auntie Program," a model we learned has been running for several years. This summer cohort is celebrating wrapping up tomorrow, and Songhees Nation Elder Florence Dick joins Morgana Adby and Cait Caden (in for Josh & Jade) to tell us more.
