United Way’s Schools Out afterschool care program is rolling out in several sites across the capital region and Salt Spring Island, including the George Jay Elementary School, The Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society facility and the Human-Nature Counselling Society in Songhees Nation. This comes after the Esquimalt Nation partnered with United Way to host the summertime version of the same program, which will now continue in its after-school form. Esquimalt Nation director of education Kalie Dyer is joining us to talk through how that went and what’s yet to come.
