Transit riders often feel like the 95 RapidBus is not as rapid as it could be. A group of advocates put that to the test on a Friday afternoon.

Josh reported live from the field as Better Transit YYJ staged a race from the Legislature, pitting the bus against cyclists and a team of joggers and fast walkers, with the goal of highlight delays along Douglas Street and through Colwood.

In the end, it was the humans on foot who crossed the finish line first, beating one of the region’s busiest routes.

Advocates say the result points to avoidable slowdowns. They are calling on Victoria and Colwood to expand dedicated transit lanes, and on BC Transit to allow all‑door boarding to speed trips.
