Episode 4 Maree Azzopardi - Find out how this artist made art after finding dead birds on the beach

View descriptionShare

Today's guest is Artist Maree Azzopardi, and she is a fantastic storyteller as well. Maree is also a finalist in the Dobell Drawing Prize #22, and her piece is called "Along the Ranges." It is a lovely concertina book, which she has created her lovely art on the Mulberry (Sa) paper. Maree will talk about her art, and process and life, and her art that is currently on display at Gosford Regional Gallery, but only until the 5/6/2022. Maree loves to use found objects to create her art like burnt logs which she crushes. In today's episode you will hear how Maree was inspired to create art after discovering dead birds on North Entrance beach.

Maree's work is included in private and public collections in Australia, Italy, Malta, Sweden, and the US. You can read a lot more about her work and travels and see her art on her website https://mareeazzopardi.com

That is the end of the interviews of the artists who were finalists in the Dobell Drawing Prize and I have thoroughly enjoyed interviewing them and hearing their stories. I highly recommend you go and have a look their work before the exhibition ends.

If you want to know more about the Dobell and where the regional tour is headed to next you can see the previous show notes for links.
