My guest today is Central Coast artist Minka Gillian, from Point Clare. She is a finalist in the Dobell Drawing Prize #22, and her art piece "The Origin of the World" (after Courbet), and this is currently on display until the 5/6/2022 at Gosford Regional Gallery. The Dobell is part of a touring exhibition and is presented by the National Art School in Sydney. You can read more about this and see helpful links in the show notes of Episode 1 and 2 of this podcast. Minka's art is really quite stunning and was inspired from a series of sculptures that she created, after finding an interesting collection of doilies in an op shop, which she found quite feminine. As with the previous discussions with artist Leonardo Uribe and artist Claire Tozer, Minka also shares personal stories behind her art, and her process in today's episode. I really enjoyed this discussion and hope you will too. If you are new to the podcast I encourage you to listen to the preview and also the previous two episodes. Please if you enjoy share the podcast and subscribe so you don't miss an episode.
