My guest today is Leonardo Uribe. He is one of four local Central Coast artists who have their art currently on display at an exhibition at Gosford Regional Gallery. This exhibition is called the Dobell Drawing Prize #22 and is presented by the National Art School in Sydney. The exhibition is touring regional NSW, and Gosford is the third showing. The official opening was held at Gosford Regional Gallery on Friday, the 29/4/22. I went along and viewed the work and met the four local artists, who told me more about their work. Hearing their stories, I knew I needed to record them and share them, and so this podcast was launched. Although the first four episodes will feature the discussions I had with each of these Dobell finalists, this podcast will not just feature artists, but instead will feature a wide range of guests. The exhibition will end at Gosford on the 5/6/2022. Leonardo Uribe's art piece is called 'Immigration Form 80 Page 3.'

This National Art School touring exhibition showcases a selection of 44 finalists' work from the 2021 Prize. It includes Euan Macleod's winning work, chosen by guest judge and acclaimed artist Lucy Culliton. Presenting a range of material approaches - from animation, collage and paper weaving, to charcoal, ink and watercolour - the exhibition demonstrates the vitality and scope of contemporary Australian drawing.
Four Central Coast are artists included in this exhibition of Dobell Drawing Prize finalists; Maree Azzorpardi, Minka Gillian, Claire Tozer and Leonardo Uribe.
The Dobell Drawing Prize is an unparalleled celebration of drawing technique and innovation. Presented by the National Art School in partnership with the Sir William Dobell Art Foundation, the biennial prize explores the enduring importance of drawing within contemporary art practice.
Entries for the 23rd Dobell Drawing Prize, to be held at NAS Gallery in March 2023, will open in late June 2022.
