In this episode of Ceasefire, hosts Dale Adams and Ron Cisneros unpack the culture of blame—why we instinctively look for someone to fault after disasters, how it distracts from solutions, and why understanding the other side builds stronger communities. From Hill Country floods and Highway 46 accidents to squeaky-wheel politics and the psychology of cognitive biases, the conversation challenges listeners to shift from finger-pointing to problem-solving.

00     Intro & The Concept of Blame — Dale and Ron open the show, jokingly debating who's "to blame" and introducing the day's topic.

36     "They Say" & Deferring to Experts — How society defaults to unnamed authority ("they say…") instead of personal experience and observation.

30     Blame vs. Solutions — Blaming distracts from finding solutions; the hosts argue for focusing on what to do next rather than who's at fault.

24     Hill Country Floods & Risk — Discussion of repeated flooding on July 4th weekends, the balance between personal property rights and public safety, and the impossibility of eliminating all risk.

28     Highway 46 Accidents — Fatal accidents on Hwy 46 near Pipe Creek and the rush to blame TxDOT, the City of Boerne, or Kendall County—when driver behavior may be the real cause.

09     Blame as a Tool for Coercion — How finger-pointing is sometimes used to pressure authorities into acting, and the role of the "squeaky wheel" in local infrastructure decisions.

12     TxDOT's Real Constraints — Understanding that road improvements depend on traffic counts, funding, and state budgeting—not a "body count" threshold.

30  Post-Break: What Do We Do About It? — The hosts discuss empathy, perspective-taking, and asking "is what I'm about to say constructive?" before speaking.

40  Squeaky Wheels & Civic Surveys — How a small number of survey respondents (≈119) can dictate policy for an entire city, and why leaders must look beyond surveys.

46  Cognitive Biases & Blame — Ron connects blame to cognitive fallacies and biases, referencing a deck of cards on the topic.

38  The Ultimate Excuse Generator — A lighthearted segment featuring a Mad Libs-style book for generating ridiculous excuses.

28  Historical Blame & Personal Responsibility — How people deflect blame onto newcomers or historical groups, and why blame is ultimately a deflection from personal responsibility.

33  Driving, Apologies & Trust — Acknowledging our own mistakes—even silently—builds trust, while blame undermines it.

58  Wrap-Up — Community functions better when we trust each other; listeners are directed to bernieradio.com for the podcast.
