North American Affairs Manager of the Consumer Choice Center (CCC), David Clement, says it is unfair for governments to treat vapour devices like the smoking of tobacco or cannabis.
Clement points to the use of vapourizers as an aid for reducing smoking, as a reason by-laws including vape technology should be reconsidered.
With the by-law targeting county-owned property, the smoking prohibition would also include subsidized housing, which Clement says unfairly targets those in poverty.
He tells us the CCC is advocating for changes in smoking bans in cities including Lethbridge, Alberta, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and throughout Ontario.
