The Monarchs probably don't win the league title in 2023 without Ashton Goudeau. The 6-6 former big leaguer joined the Monarchs for the stretch run and had a 1.37 ERA in three playoff starts. That includes eight shutout innings with the Monarchs facing elimination in the West Division Championship Series. Joe Calfapietra was leading the celebration for the Kansas City Monarchs after their thrilling championship win in 2023. But soon after the champagne bottles were cleaned up and the players went home, the Monarchs manager went to work on the NEXT challenge. Building the 2024 roster.  Calfapietra's job isn't easy. He needs to scout, recruit and sign a full team of quality players and contend for a title. This year, he's already signed two big leaguers, and he's not done yet.
