About Andrew

Andy developed a passion and interest in human behaviour after he was involved and the victim of a violent crime at the age of 16. With over 18 years of experience working in the social care sector and training in psychology, multiple psychotherapeutic disciplines and behaviour management models, Andy became inspired to educate others. His passion for improving therapeutic relationships and good practice in behavior management for care, education, non-care and even parenting is infectious.

Andy is the MD and head trainer of Able Training Support Ltd a national UKAS accredited training company, the lead external trainer for the Alzheimer's Society, the host of the celebrated ‘Able to care’ podcast, on the board of directors of the 'Institute of Conflict Management' and a key member of the health and social care committee group. He is also the author the book “Targeting the positive “ book. Andy has also supported numerous foster carers and parents as a consultant to support them better understand and manage the behaviour of their children. He is also a business mentor, life coach and public speaker.

Andy has worked and taught in nearly every type of care setting including, mental health, schools, learning disability, elderly care, children’s homes and, foster care.

Andy has been an advisor for white paper practice notes written by Coram BAAF (British association of adoption and fostering). A guest speaker at the Dementia 2020 conference and has delivered lectures and talks across the UK about numerous subjects including – Understanding dementia, attachment, trauma, acquired brain injury, Pathological Demand avoidance, Autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, Fetal Alcohol spectrum disorders, behaviour management, violence at work, Growth mindset, Fear management, Self care and more.
