About Dr. Smith
Dr. Macie P. Smith is a proud HBCU Alum of South Carolina State University receiving both her Bachelor’s in Social Work and Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling; she earned her Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. She is nationally known for her work on dementia-competent practices and family caregiving matters. Her real-world unapologetic approach to practical caregiving has been published in national and international professional journals. She is a Licensed Gerontology Social Worker and an award-winning Alzheimer's and dementia educator with over 22 years of experience coordinating care for aging and vulnerable populations. She is an advisory board member with Leeza’s Care Connection, founded by Emmy Award-Winning TV/radio personality & philanthropist Leeza Gibbons. Dr. Smith also is a bestselling author.
