Lester Kiewit speaks to Rebecca Gore, former legal researcher to the Inspecting Judge of JICS (Judge Edwin Cameron), Harvard Law graduate and current research associate with the Centre for Law and Society and the University of Cape Town, about the high number of remand detainees in South African prisons who are waiting years before getting their day in court. In some cases detainees have been behind bars for five to ten years, violating the Correctional Services Act.
