What should political parties be promising Cape Town’s children in the upcoming local government elections? Prof Eric Atmore, Director of the Centre for Early Childhood Development, joins Lester Kiewit to discuss why children’s issues must be prioritised, from early childhood development and education to healthcare, safety, housing and basic municipal services. With mayoral candidates set to debate children’s issues in Mitchell’s Plain on 21 October, the conversation looks at what meaningful commitments should look like and how voters can hold political leaders accountable.
