A London family are smiling today thanks to a South African doctor in Texas who led a team in performing an operation on a foetus while he was still in the womb, gently pushing its intestines back into his tiny body. The procedure was carried out in Texas where Dr Michael Belfort has been performing similar operations in the past, helping babies with spina bifida. He just so happened to be in Cape Town for a meeting and spoke to Lester Kiewit Dr Belfort.
