Relief as Alison Botha’s attackers are sent back to prison after being released on parole 

Outdoor adventure reporter Jeff Ayliffe, speaking to Lester Kiewit from the Garden Route, gave a vivid on-the-ground account of the aftermath of the intense storm that swept through Victoria Bay and surrounding areas. He described dramatic scenes of thick sea foam engulfing parts of the picnic and beachfront areas, with levels reaching up to six or seven feet and even flooding into homes after doors were blown open. While residents were already busy cleaning up and early indications point to limited long-term structural damage in Victoria Bay, he noted that other parts of the region were far more severely affected, particularly vulnerable communities like Tembaletu, as well as high-lying rural areas that bore the brunt of flooding and disruption. Infrastructure damage, including closed mountain passes such as Swartberg, has added to the challenges, even as George itself escaped the worst. Ayliffe also cautioned that another strong weather system is expected over the weekend, raising concerns that conditions could deteriorate again before full recovery is possible.
