Proteas veteran Grant Jansen speaks to Lester Kiewit about his Mandela Day challenge, attempting a world record for the longest run-up in cricket, bowling 107 overs to raise awareness for period poverty and elderly dignity. Grant shares insights from his impressive endurance background, including spending 27 days on Robben Island in 2018 running and cycling Nelson Mandela’s prison number, 4666.4 km, to raise funds for charity. He has completed multiple Ironman races, over 50 marathons, and represented the Proteas Veterans in the Over-50s Cricket World Cup Final in 2023. The initiative is driven by the Excellence in Life NPC through its dignity project, with Spirit Foundation and Lord Taverners as strategic partners who, along with WPCC, helped make this event possible.
