The South African Revenue Service (SARS) issued a statement last week, saying they have noted the phenomenal growth of the use of various digital currencies by many South Africans. Prominent amongst these is the prevalence of crypto assets. Their concern is that these crypto assets and transactions have not been declared by taxpayers as they are required to.
