The DA has issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding the President reverse the decision, claiming Whitfield is being punished for doing his job and fighting corruption. The official reason for his removal was a February trip to the U.S. allegedly taken without permission, but Whitfield maintains he followed all protocols and even apologised when no response was received. The DA has condemned the move as a “calculated political assault” and accused Ramaphosa of applying a double standard, citing ANC ministers who remain in Cabinet despite serious misconduct allegations.
