The Remote Gambling Bill aims to regulate South Africa's booming online gambling industry, where nearly R1.1 trillion was gambled in the past year, including R418 billion on sports betting. Despite the National Gambling Amendment Act of 2008, which has yet to be implemented, the sector remains largely unregulated, prompting public submissions on the new bill, including a detailed submission by Koshiek Karan, Founder and CEO of financial education platform BankerX, to parliament's Trade and Industry Committee.
