Cyclists continue to lose their lives on our roads, but for their families, the fight for justice can be long and frustrating. From Francois Esterhuizen, killed in a hit and run in Worcester in December 2025, to the cases of Idries Sheriff and Landon La Grange, where court proceedings have been delayed, several families are still waiting for answers. In September 2026, two cyclists were killed on the R102 near Elsies River, followed by the death of a 73 year old foreign visitor near Heidelberg in October. One of the most heartbreaking recent cases is that of 16 year old Lilitha Lombo, killed in a hit and run while on a group training ride with her Khaltsha Cycling Academy team along a regular route in Somerset West. Following a memorial ride to the scene on Sunday, Neil Robinson, CEO of the Pedal Power Association, joins Lester Kiewit to discuss the latest developments in these cases, the obstacles families face in seeking justice, and what needs to change to ensure accountability when cyclists are killed on our roads.
