The South African Church Defenders (SACD) are challenging the CRL Rights Commission's Section 22 process, arguing that its proposed framework amounts to state control of religious organisations rather than genuine self regulation. Pastor Mukhuba, Chairperson of the South African Church Defenders, speaks to Lester Kiewit about concerns over abuse in religious spaces, the enforcement of existing criminal laws, the organisation's legal action against the CRL Rights Commission and its plans for a church led code of conduct that protects religious freedom while promoting accountability.
