In a bold move to curb rising unemployment and protect local jobs, the Cabinet has approved sweeping labour reforms targeting the employment of foreign nationals. Through the National Labour Migration Policy and the Employment Services Amendment Bill, the government plans to impose quotas, tighten visa enforcement, and restrict foreign-owned small businesses in key sectors. Framed as a push for fairness and economic justice, the policies signal a dramatic shift in the country’s labour landscape—one that could reshape industries, spark legal debates, and test the balance between national interest and regional solidarity.
