Derrick Marco, Electoral & Peace Practitioner, Reverend and National Coordinator of Voter and Civic Education for Kagiso Trust, speaks to Lester Kiewit during CapeTalk's live broadcast from Sea Point High School, where Watch Elect is engaging learners on the importance of voter registration and active citizenship ahead of the final voter registration weekend. Drawing on more than 40 years of experience in democracy support, electoral management and conflict resolution across Africa, Marco explains why building a healthy democracy starts at community level, and why empowering young people to participate in the democratic process is essential for South Africa's future. They were also joined by Lilitha Vusani, a Grade 12 learner at the school, who shared her views on why the voice of the youth is so important.
